Like how we see La Motta's life being the real "boxing" to counterpoint the one in the ring. At least, the latter has its rules. That's the whole point of that film. Similarly, it's only incidental that SS is about classical dancing that it doesn't translate to simplistic terms. The actual dance (of love, loss, pain, etc) is the character's life. Again, the whole gamut of emotions that Kamal brings into this character ranks as the Arangetram of a real "actor", a true artist. I repeat, Kamal the actor is no lesser an "author" than writer-director. Two wonderful collaborations with KV.
