I watched a special features DVD where the commentator explained the camera tracking to where it stands now. The table is split in half and is kind of joined together only a moment before the camera moves back enough to accommodate it in the frame. This is mildly visible by the top hat still slightly wobbling in the frame you have chosen.
haha - idha naanga 2006'lEyE sonnOm - sila pEr sirichaanga.. One of the best from Kamal. Certain subtle expressions and adakki vaasikkum performance were the main reason for me to like this movie. GVM also needs equal appreciation. Raghavan was certainly refreshing on screen. Intha maathiri padangaL paNNanum - it would be better than doing movies like Dasa.Quote:

It's both the metaphorical quality (of young Kane in blissful playfulness outside the window as his future is decided inside) and also the evasiveness of the image (in isolation) in various character's complex relation to that situation.
The mother's the most concerned, affectionate towards the child. But she keeps a cold facade on the outside right up to signing it (as you see in the frame).
The father wants to raise the boy. All the while he protests, but towards the end, reveals his weakness. Not wanting to hear young Kane's playful noise, he closes the window (as against the mother who did seem cold enough to sign it, opens it again with concern. In the very beginning of the scene, she orders young Kane to pull up the muffler).
Lack of tolerance aside, the father's manhandling tendency is brought out by, 'What the kid needs's a good thrashing'. To which the mother says, 'That's why he's going to be brought up where you can't get at him.' (perhaps suggests a history of drunken rage and lashing-out at young Kane)
