Gangs veiled attack
Quote:
Sachin has to ask himself whether he is good enough to play one-day cricket day in and day out; whether it's helping him missing tournaments and playing a one-day series after eight-nine months," Ganguly told news channel Headlines Today, "whether it's helping him as a one-day player or if it's helping the Indian one-day team. If Sachin can't get an answer to these questions, he has to go."
"It affects everyone's form if Tendulkar keeps coming in and going out of one-day tournaments,"
seems Gangs doesn't think highly of Raina as a ODI player
Rohit digQuote:
"Every captain will feel that this player is more talented than the other. The point is he is too stuck on someone for too long because of his mindset. [Suresh] Raina has to go but the problem with Dhoni is that he is thinking too far ahead: the 2015 World Cup.
"I bet if Raina doesn't improve his technique then he is going to struggle in the 2015 World Cup in Australia. People are going to bounce him out. Nobody is going to pitch the ball up to him. The selectors will have to look at young players who can perform."
Quote:
Dhoni can't just jump and say these guys can't field so they are being rotated," Ganguly said. "If a guy who can field averages 15 on the tour, what sense does it make? We have to find a way to balance players and make a team."
^ ganguly's never had a good opinion on raina.....was always critical of him in england......guess he's trying desperately to get in tiwari....biased or not i feel it would be a good decision considering how raina and rohit have played this series
I hope Raina will play better in the remaining matches... he was good in England at least in the ODI series... give him some time to settle in.. he is already making 20s, 30s.. he can convert those scores..
Yuvarasan illadhadhu remba pirachanaiya irukku namakku... :(
@AS Tiwary handling of short pitch stuff would make Raina look like Lara  Dhoni,Yuvi,Raina.Virat are indispensable in the position they play..rest we can keep on rotation :lol2:
@CR We just won the worldcup becos of him....I would say he is the most destructive batsman in the position he plays in odi and any team would gladly swap him.
coming back to tendulkar.....ur talking about the format's all time best player who is playing possibly one of his last odi series......atha commemorate panaaama summa retire aavu aavunu kadappu ethraanga.....avar eppa retireaanum viruppa padraaro appa aavattum.....guess he's earned this right......
If Tendulkar wants to play next five years and scores 0 in all matches, you better select him. There wasn't much in indian cricket before Tendulkar. There won't be much after him. If he wants to muck around, give him the opportunity to. Indian Cricket is NOT bigger than Tendulkar :)
@CR Gangs was ranting about his ODI game and his unworthiness in OZ/2015 worldcup..with you on his test game.
Tendulkar needs no advice: Vengsarkar
G. Viswanath
Former India captain and chairman of the national selection committee, Dilip Vengsarkar, has stated in a press release that Sachin Tendulkar is not only a great role model for the younger generation in India, but also for players all over the world.
“India can take pride in the fact that players (juniors and seniors) want to opt for the Tendulkar template of approaching the game. It is unfortunate that a lot is being said about his (lack of) form by sections of the print and electronic media.''
Vengsarkar asks whether India has a player of Sachin's class in its midst at the moment.
“Our bench strength is not at all that solid whereby we can hope to fill the void left by some great players in time to come. Sachin may be nearing 39 years of age, but I strongly feel that he is as fit and as charged up, if not more, than any of the players playing for India at present. His focus, dedication, and commitment to the team are unparalleled, to say the least.''
He further says that Sachin's sheer presence can mould future generation of Indian cricketers.
“This is not just an opinion, but a fact if you take into consideration the Mumbai team of yesteryear being strong because we had Test players playing club and inter-office cricket regularly in Mumbai. This helped upcoming, young cricketers immensely. There is no need to advise the legend to hang up his boots when he himself, I am sure, will do so when the time is right for him to do so.'' — Special Correspondent
