Thanks so much for the wonderful recap. You are so lucky to be able to attend this event and listen to those wonderful songs.

Of course VJ is right that MSV was ahead of his time and deserves no less than Dada Saheb Phalke award. Hope the powers that be will spend the time to listen and understand his contribution.

Really enjoyed reading your report on the Fourth Anniversary celebrations. The songs chosen by VJ are among the best by her for MSV. I have no doubt that the evening was unforgettable.

Dear friends,
The 4th anniversary of MSVtimes.com, official website for Mellisai Mannar, was held on 4th Dec 2010 at Infosys Hall, Chennai-24. As a part of the event, Shri R. Govardhanam, associate and Shri Philips, Guitarist, in MSV troupe, were honored. Sridhar's Navarags, gave music performance of MSV composed songs.

The highlight of the evening and a pleasant surprise for the audience, was the performance of Vani Jayaram (Pls go through Shri Murali Sir's coverage). She sang most famous songs of her, composed by Mellisai Mannar, as well as rare songs (e.g. the Pathini Penn song, many audience were not aware of this song).

A brief coverage in the form of video has been uploaded in Youtube as may be seen below. This may not be a professional quality since shot in a digicam. Pls bear with me if the viewing is disturbing.

Thanks for the link. Nice program it is. Anu is a pleasant host. VJ is amazing. I am still so surprised why ARR/HJ/YSR/JV/VA/DI/VS/DSP/SKD/GVP/ABC/EFG/XYZ/etc haven't caught a whiff of VJ's beautiful voice. Strange!

Honour for Vani Jayaram

Noted playback singer and Carnatic vocalist Vani Jayaram was felicitated at the Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru, an annual music festival organised by popular music troupe Lakshman Sruthi.

This was followed by Vani Jayaram felicitating acclaimed Shastriya Sangeet musician Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and noted Carnatic musician and Chitra Veena exponent Shri Ravikiran during the latter’s jugalbandhi performance scheduled for the same day.

Vani Jayaram was conferred the title South Indian Meera by Dasari Music Academy, Guntur way back in 2007, apart from several other national and regional awards.

She is a popular playback singer in almost all south Indian languages and many of her songs are evergreen hits.
