I think "Keli miga seivAL" is inspired by the Mahakavi song "kaNNan en sEvagan".. the other song inspired by this one is the popular "engirndhO vandhAn" in "padikkAdha mEdhai" ! :P

madhu: engirundho vanthaan is a bharathiyar song; not just an inspired version of one.

rathnakumar is an eminently forgettable movie *ing PUC, bhanumathi & madhuri devi. rathnakumar (PUC) though unemployed (and with no money) manages to fall in love with bhanumathi & gets married to her. He falls into bad company and mistreats bhanumathi, leaves her and goes away. He then proceeds to fall in love with madhuri devi who is a princess. When she discovers his duplicity, he is thrown into prison and that's when he sings this song - in self-pity and appreciation of his wife's good qualities. All end's well finally. Some details may be slighly wrong, since I watched this three/four years ago. There is a nice duet (PUC, bhanumathi) that IMHO is better than this song. Bhanumathi's comment in later years was that PUC looked more like her father than her hero.

madhu,kishca : Actually, the lines are borrowed from Bharathiyar with the order and some words changed to suit the context in Padikkadha medhai. In Bharathiyar's song kaNNan asks to be a servant (Sevakan) and lists his qualities. He gets the job. Later the boss sings about KaNNan as a servant in' Kannan en sevakan'. The song in the movie starts with a line from the beginning of the song followed by a line from the end. Then other lines are picked out of sequence. Some words are changed - kaetpaen becomes kaetpaan. Not exactly a Bharathiyar song. But a song with Bharathiyar's words and theme. This was done in another song 'solai malar oLiyo' sung by T.R.Mahalingam where lines were taken from three different songs, but in the right order.
May be, the tune for 'engirundho vandhaan' was inspired by 'geli miga', not the lyrics!
