HOW THE TEAMS HAVE CHANGED BE IT IN TERMS OF ACQUIRING NEW PLAYERS OR COACHES. TOI FINDS OUT
On the face of it, Team Hyderabad wear a new look but whether new personnel will change the complexion remains to be seen. Going into the tournament in the inaugural edition as one of the most fancied teams, they finished first from last last season and not surprisingly, heads rolled.
Before acquiring new players, the management got rid of coach Robin Singh, Vijay Mohan Raj (logistics manager) and Shishir Hattangadi (head of cricket). Darren Lehmann was named the coach and Tim Wright the CEO, a
move that was not to be as the latter quit soon. That was after giving Adam Gilchrist full-time charge of leading the team and naming Rohit Sharma as his deputy. The war of words between VVS Laxman and Shahid Afridi did not help the team’s cause either.
The Pakistani maverick will be missing this season. Nuwan Zoysa is not available for the first three matches at least. Andrew Symonds will not be available till the latter stage of the tournament as he will be on national duty in the UAE.
