Also very glad that Cook is the star of the series and not KP.
That gives leeway to interpret the loss to SA at home as something heroic :P

Hello brother, not just KP. Everyone failed. Only Cook 'stood tall and rose to the challenge'.
Second test - my MoM would have been Monty. KP of course put them in a commanding position, but Cook's knock is not to be forgotten, like his Premadasa knock has been forgotten.
This match - Cook again.
It would have been bad if Eng came across as dependent on KP for winning. I'd've hated it then. ippo mana niRaivA irukku. Anderson, Swann, Monty, Trott - all have come good.
Maniyan Nagpur-la century pOttAn-nA, wishlist complete aayirum.
And that is not to mention Swann's role in Premadasa.
Many folks see England as - there's KP and then the rest of the team is rubbish. The contribution of others in the wins, fights put up by others in losses would be conveniently underemphasized and forgotten.
I am so glad such a point can't be made now.

side effects of IPL are showing up.....sour grapes, yeah, maybe........Ashwin trying to bowl six different lengths, lines, variations in one over shows it.......u've got to be monotonous in test match..........Virat kohli dancing down to Swann and getting bowled - i havent seen such dismissals with any other country's batsmen.........it all looks bleak for India from now on - players who are just T20 fit which is a gamble anyways - no players who have the temperament to last in test formats.........IPL is slowly but steadily dismantling the test match structure of Indian cricket
+1 All the dismissals in the second innings [ except Sachin ] are due to ODI/T20 shots. Currently except Pujara none has that temperament, hopefully Kohli learns that soon.
What we miss are
1. Strong openers
2. Strong lower middles order
3. Very good fast bowlers
4. Good spinners.
5. Strong leader.
Currently only one down looks satisfactory.
No wonder India doesn't want DRS.
Dhoni's luck running out? He had gone with 3 spinners but Ishanth is taking wickets.
Cook was struggling with his front foot. Ishanth  and the ball to get rid of Compton
The spinners will be helpful on 4th and 5th day.
England have advantage winning toss. But by taking 2 wickts in the first session,
India are on top.
Dhoni's love towards Jaddu/Chawla is continuing in test also :lol2: 4 spinners + 1 fast bowler, when you already have two part time spinners in XI? Ennaya idhu :banghead: Rahane enna paavam panninan?
The importance of DRS and Indians objecting it will be a debate again after that Cook's dismissal.
As with any series-winning teams, almost invariably someone comes good......different people rise at different situations......Joe Root, the debutant is playing a very important innings here. Though 7 down now, England have a great chance of going for a series win here.
Marana blade + Mokkai + Attu + Aruvai batting by England with the exception of Swann who provided some relief with few fours. Hope India doesn't bat like this.
As usual horrible batting by India.....
Wishing England should win this (they will as India are in a self destruction mode) and a 1-3 series loss should lead to some major changes in the Test team and some most awaited retirements.
Everyone plays like crap
enna ezhavu daa... chai.....
Gambhi bites the dust and Dhoni walks in as the night watchman :rotfl:
Oh boy, this is just hilarious
 too much...
It is time to remove Schewag,Gambhir & Tendulkar and go in for
youngsters who can gain experience and shine in the long run.
All of them playing for their averages and not for the country.
Anderson-ai naan pugazhndha pOdhu sirithavargaL ellAm engE?
Anderson deserves to be praised. Bowling in a subcontinent pitch is always going to be difficult but he rose to the occasion.
He (and Broad) bowled very well in the last test in UAE vs. Pak
In Galle and Premadasa Anderson bowled pretty well too
He has been doing well out of England too - kaththi kaththi sonnAlum yaarum namba mAtreenga. thideernu aacharyappadureenga. Always branded as : good in English conditions, that's about it.

A fighting Virat Kohli century and an equally dogged 99 from Dhoni.....Couldn't have asked for a better setting for the future of Indian Cricket.
1. Hand over the captaincy to Kohli and let MSD play as the wicket keeper.
2. Time to bid adieu to Sachin and a farewell ODI Series against Pakistan would be great. Sachin began his cricket against Pakistan and would be perfect to finish against them.
3. Gambhir should go, just simply go.
4. Sehwag can be India's opener for now and can be paired with a technically sound opener @ the other end. Rahane maybe as I am not yet convinced with Abinav. Vijay seems to be too casual for Test Cricket.
5. Rohit should be groomed for a middle order slot in Test Cricket and Suresh Raina can play a big role in T20 Cricket and so does Yuvraj.
6. Bring in Sreesanth just to spice up the bowling and also add some much needed aggression to the team, that @ the moment looks as flat as the Rajkot pitch. Sree along with Kohli can form a mini team, just how Bhajji aided Dada in that front :)
7. IMO, we can groom R.Jadeja as an allrounder and can hand him a permanent place ahead of P.Ohja. I know, Ohja is India's most successful bowler in this series but he is just an accurate bowler, who neither turns nor has the bounce that a tall spinner usually has. Jadeja has more long term use.
8. Badrinath should just walk in and take Laxman's place @ 6 ahead of Manoj Tiwari. Badri has a good part of 3-4 years still left in him.
Team for the Australia Test Series:
1. Virender Sehwag
2. Ajinka Rahane
3. Cheteswar Pujara
4. Virat Kohli (Capt)
5. Rohit Sharma
6. Subramaniyam Badrinath
7. MS Dhoni
8. R.Jadeja
9. R.Ashwin
10. I.Sharma
11. S.Sreesanth.
Reserves: M. Tiwari, P.Ohja, V.Aaron, Parthiv Patel.
ICC Should probably scrap 50 overs cricket just to make life a little easier for cricketers. Ranji trophy should be the breeding space for test cricket and IPL can serve the same for T20. Honestly, there is no place for 50-50 any more.
Any thoughts?
Not a bad time to look into what's happening in Ranji Trophy!

Jiwanjot Singh of Punjab looks to be an interesting batting prospect.
Interesting suggestions, Mukund seemed very convincing to me, he played against England in England which has been a difficult task even for the top teams.
Push Rahane to 2nd/3rd down and have Mukund open the innings. Rohit needs to prove himself atleast in the ODI's before making a claim in test cricket, he is too casual, better than Vijay still he tends to throw away his wicket.
Sreesanth hasn't been great or doing anything in the domestic cricket. Sandeep Sharma has been very good, or try Awana, Varun. We will need 3 good fast bowlers for overseas tours, we don't have even one.
Not convinced by Ashwin, his bowling has been poor, not picking wickets and not being economical. Ohja is the better bowler, but Jadeja is also a left arm bowler.
Too bad for Badri, he will not get a chance but I agree with you there. Maybe Rohit will fight it out with Tiwary.
Sehwag really needs to start firing more often, he is a huge impact player but the impact innings are becoming rare.
Completely disagree with giving captaincy to Kohli, try it out in T20 or ODI and then make the changes in test.
Good one by Kohli and Dhoni. I saw the match till lunch last night. Was thinking that they will get out even before tea.
But mokkai batting by both teams. Looks like Aussies strategy of scoring runs quickly in test matches is not working after 5 years for any team. Only they were able to do it.
Dhoni , thala  steve waugh of Indian cricket
good batting by kohli and Dhoni , match becoming interesting, infact the strong English team in many years ,better pitches make tests watchable .
Not sure why the commentators are criticizing the decision of India to bat for an hour today. How can India get a feel of the pitch if they don't even bat for an hour? I think this is a OK since they declared within an hour.
Dharmasena should be suspended for being a umpire for sometime until he clears further training to renew his license. Cook was given out once again but this time it looks even more silly than the previous ones. India lucky
