its a beautiful song... very melodious... kind of early 80's not the famous one(i mean not famous even in the rare hits..).but every one will recognize the song..

"Naan pesa vandaen" is a real classic and as I know its commercially available atleast as a part of IR-HMV collection.

Surya.ur reminiscences on the Oli pirandadadu song with Vijayan coems to my mind as well........Its an admixture of older songs in the charanams such as unnai naan sandithaen nee", naan ungal kooda vara sammadhama plus some excellant kalpana swaras by SPB (Hindolam)with play around the words/swara ma ( ma ma ma ma ga ni da, manganida; ga ma ga ma ga ga ni da)

Do anyone know about the song that was quite famous in the school/college days when it gto released for obvious reasons.
The song starred Murali and his friends and Radhika also starred in that movie. The song goes like "Vel murugannukku mottai onnu podaporen doi.."

Another song that has been haunting me is

Another beautiful melody with Nizalgal Ravi as a blind man, I dont remember the lyrics.

Another rollicking song by TMS for Kamalahassan that has always fascinated me is "Vadivelan manasa vachchaan malara vachchaan mankudhu roja chedi..." from thaayillamal naanillai.

Wow, CM thanks for reminding this TMS number, is it the song with the refrain "ithu oru theroatamaaa" or something like that??? its an enjoyable koothu hit.
Other side: Its bit tough to remember the charanam tunes, reading your "vizhi erandum kadalanathey", I am reminded of the Msia Vasu's outstanding delivery, IR too gave mind-boggling beats during this part of the song, its a nice research material. The only Smitha(d. 23/9/96) song which had some innovation.

CM, the song with Nizhalgal Ravi is "Thulli Thulli pogum Penne" by Manoj-Gyan(?), from Velicham. Prabu, one other Smitha song which was popular - "Pesakoodadhu" from Adutha Vaarisu.
If you see some of these films you will conclude that inspiration had to come from within for IR to score songs like that for those movies :-) The 80s were terrible.

Vijay, After seeing corpse-like Jiji in Panivizhum Malarvanam, I've not yet seen the picturisation for most IR songs, maybe thats why I like most of them :)

Apologies yet again if any of them have been discussed before.
"Iraivan Ulagathai" deserves mention as we never used to hear this song on Ceylon radio as it was considered anathema by them questioning the existence of God. The lyrics ran like this
"Iraivan Ulagathai.......Ezhaiyai padaithavan avan endral, iraivan enbavan edarkaga...." Ceyon Radio used to be poitically correct that they used to hackeny portions of songs such as the one in the film Bhadrakaali and very recently even the Singaaravelan song "Puducheri cutcheri.." on the lines, "tigerachari varadachari" !!!

Raj, SG has got good tunes, but Dakshinamoorthy I have seen Jagatguru Aathi Sankarar, the movie has become Pathi sankarar because of lack of music (only one song Dhig vijayam song is sort of OK not to speak of BGM). I do not know about other movies. I have no idea about VB. Please enlighten me.
