This is a thread that should see more postings on old and rare songs. At least to combat the monotony in DF.

I think the song is from Vaazhkai. It was released in late forties or early fifties. This was a popular song during my lower secondary school years. The tune is copied from 'chup chup kadu' in Hindi.
Saravanan probably can shed more light!
Yes, Raj, that's a good song from Vaazhkkai (1949/ AVM/ T.R.Ramachandran & Vyjayanthimala). Sung by M.S.Rajeswari, Music by R.Sudarsanam. MSR had a smash hit in 'Un kann unnai yemaatrinaal' from the same film. Lyrics by K.P.Kamakshisundaram.
Saravanan: 'un kann unnai' was very popular among us kids(in those days!) to tease others. I don't remember the whole song. But , it goes like:
mana mevum aasai mohanaa maaraa ikkobam nyayamaa
un kann unnai yemaatrinaal en mel kobam undaavadhen
college padichum payanillai kaarotta therindum payanillai
....
I have been searching for these songs for sometime now.
Vaazhkkai was apparently filmed for the most part in my grandmother's house. I've heard her talk about Vaijayanthimala as the most beautiful girl she's ever seen.
A song that always puts me in a good mood is "nallavan enakku naanE nallavan". It has an excellent rhythm and good beats. Was it one of the "dance floor" songs of that time?
guys,
which movie is this song from....have been running in my mind for a while..it goes something like this
"Athannin nenjukkulley tikk tikk tikk
ammalin kannukkuley bakk bakk bakk"
Senty, 'athanin nenjukkuley' is from the film Revathi-1986. (Suresh, Revathi, Sujatha, Jaishankar). Sung by KJY & SJ. Music by S-G.
