You have been doing very good service to the next generation by bringing out the golden treasures of Nadigar Thilagam in the VCD/ DVD formats. The pain you feel, the strains you take, is clearly visible from the list of films, format published and franchise you make in marketing the products. Our sincere appreciations to you on behalf of the Sivaji Fans and connoisseurs of Tamil cinema, all over the world.
At this juncture, we feel it is our duty to bring out some facts for your attention and for consideration and implementation in future. On going through and viewing the products published by you we come across some crucial factors which can not be ignored. Nadigar Thilagam, one of the greatest artists of Tamil Nadu, has brought glories and laurels through his acting in Tamil films. Each and every frame he appeared in the celluloid, speak volumes and form an integral part of cinema and established the aesthetics of the creators. His acting has been appreciated in each and every frame he appeared, by the fans and the audience. But we have found that some films published by you in the VCD/ DVD format have been shrinked to suit the hardware. Because of this we lose many invaluable scenes of his acting and performance. This is a great insult to the art form and to the artiste in Nadigar Thilagam. In one of the films published in the DVD format, it was shocking to note that the songs have been reduced to just one stanza and one of the songs itself had been removed. In another instance, while the film remains as advertised in the disc, the title portion appears from some other film (of course it is Nadigar Thilagam's film). This kind of self-editing to suit the hardware format will definitely be an insult to the soul in the creators. We do not want to pin point any particular publisher. But we are pained to see such kind of attitudes in some of the publications which definitely is guilty of conscience. We hope it is not intentional. Hence our fervent appeal to you is PLEASE PUBLISH THE FILM IN FULL. If this film does not end in 2 cds, include a third in the VCD format (we are sure most of the films before 1990s would cover 3 cds in VCD format). There will not be any problem for publishing in DVD format. Even those epic creations from Hollywood are retained in full form while publishing in DVDs.
Therefore, we profoundly request you to kindly value the contribution of Nadigar Thilagam to Tamil cinema in right perspective and respect the sentiments of his fans and connoisseurs of classic cinema and keep the film in tact without any deletion, editing on your part.
