hmm, i knew 90's has a great emotional quotient as CR put it, but coming to Jai's point, the clones brought out the best of rahman.......and the way he came back from dark period of 2002 in Boys was truly amazing.....even 2003, 04,05 were not that great but he still stayed on top....finally rang de basanti in 2006 somehow cleared all his blocks and we see the free flowing rahman again....so as a fan, i found his journey in 2000's much more tougher and the success in this period was very sweet..... :)
musically too, in 2000's, i realised rahman is not a man with set ideas........he ventured into usage of natural instruments much against his intial synthesiser days......the finishing(cant find any other word) in songs post 2000 was very convincing.......to me he also made more soundtracks than albums in 2000 which is again a deviation from his initial idea of albums/songs perpendicular to vision of the movie........in short he ventured into territories unknown to him and came out trumps in most of them coupled with "highs after lows" makes 2000's very special for me..... :D
