'Pushpaka Vimanam' lands in Shanghai

Pushpaka Vimanam aka Pushpak, directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, was one of the best films made in India. This silent film was released in 1987. Today it is regarded as a classic. The film is going to be screened at Shanghai International Film Festival to be held in June this year.

The film will be screened at its special Indian section. Rajamouli's Eega is also going to be screened at this festival.

Starring Kamal Haasan and Amala, the silent film also won National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment in 1988. Kamal Haasan won great appreciation for pulling off the film on his shoulders without mouthing a word in the entire movie. The film is a black comedy.

Interestingly, this "silent" movie [PUSHPAKA VIMANM (Telugu)/PUSHPAK (Hindi)] was titled PESUM PADAM in Tamil. Needless to say, it was a Kamal classic directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. Because there was no dialogue, it was the same video/audio print in all versions with the titles shown in different languages.

Recently, CNN IBN listed out "100 Years of Indian Cinema: The 100 greatest Indian films of all time".
Out of the 100 greatest Indian films, 7 films are Our Kamal Haasan's films. (from Hindi, Telugu and Tamil)... Kamal is most versatile actor that India has ever produced.

Nagesh always praised kamal bcos only kamal gave him work, specially in his later years.

news is confirmed...neeya is arriving shortly.....

But this is not digitized version......normal version...but good print is what i got to know about it..!

Kamal was honoured by Income Tax department in Chennai for being 'a shining example of good citizenship' by paying taxes regularly .

Kamal is one of 5 friends in Neeya, the othere being srikanth, ravichandran, jai ganesh & vijayakumar.

Muthuraman has a guest role. So does nambiyar. Surulirajan's comdey is a let down here, no scope also for him.

Kamal has a stylish mush in the film. He is paired with latha.

The songs were hits, specially the climax song - Naan kattil mele kandein, vennila.

If the need was to showcase an "old" Kamal, Ram Laxman, Guru etc are much better choices.
"Nan than ungappanda.." - marana mass.. I still rememebr the theater crowd going crazy during that song...

Ramlaxman fared average even during the 1st release. So no chance.

Yes, Guru has a chance.

Biut a better bet would be sakalakala vallavan.

Kamal haasan's Guru which was released in 1980 is still one of my favorites.
Also, Sridevi and Ilaiyaraja performance were good.
