thumburu,
Love that song.
Narayanan,
Thanks for introducing this song. Haven't heard it earlier. Lovely song.
:ty: @ Vel for "Nandalala", it's often too easy to escape into the past genius of IR and take for granted that he is still composing...TZP (childish/innocent/playful) feeling with more of a tragic touch...not just being misunderstood but lost/distanced/wistful...
-Mella Oorandhu Oorandhu...what odd sounding words...like caterpillar crawlings...playful yet subtely tragic all the same
-Onnukkonnu... heart-breaking each time KJ sings "Anbu onnu than aanathaeyaa" affection, orphaned...:sigh2:
-Ooru Vaadham Kootamae :swinghead:- IR with group song...very cute...IMO director has lovely opportunities to make this song full of visually heartwarming scenes...mid bgm string instrumental (?) with windpipes :cool2:
-Thaalattu - classical IR sorrow....a yearnful voice, wrenching lyrics, cannot help but tug at your heartstrings....

Autoraja pick: "Malare"...deep-voiced SPB with that little ironic laugh...
Even with "Thumbi Vaa" version with IR and Janaki...my vote still goes to "Malare"....as much as I would love to say great version...I still am held in the original's hold...this version just doesn't work for me :(

Querida,
I am not sure if 'Malare' is by Raja. From what I remember only the 'sangathil' song was composed by Raja. 'Malare' definitely doesn't have the Raja signature. Infact in some places in the charanam, you can hear the Rajan Nagendra signature. ("nee enge naan enge" is how one Rajan Nagendra song which was later copied in Hindi film "Deewana" ends.)
Listened to the songs of 'mOgha muL' (most of them for the first time).
Terribly underwhelmed by MGS :-(
OTOH, KJY has two great numbers! For classical numbers in movies, none can come anywhere closer to him!
I've got another first-time-listen in "nee pournami" of oruvar vAzhum Alayam.
What a song!
There's another great number 'pallaviyE saraNam' (semi-classical again, by SPB-SJ)!
Interestingly, I went to thiraippadal for this album at my wife's request for 'malaiyOram mayilE' and got such a wonderful treat by KJY/SPB/SJ!
nice review queridaQuote:

The song 'Aruvi kooda' is another awesome song by KJJ. I don't know the movie. Any link pls
நான் கொடுத்தத திருப்பிக்கொடுத்தா
முத்தமாக்கொடு, அத மொத்தமாக்கொடு!
(Don't know who started this concept but it runs till enthiran - vasee & sanA does the same thing ; must be from very old days - ABC nee vAsi of OKD also has this loan business 'கொடுத்ததை திருப்பிக்கொடு, அது என்ன இலவசமா?')
Sweet song with pleasant guitar sounds and mesmerising Chitra voice! The saraNam portion is inippu without thikattal !!
(movie - mAveeran)
Also listened to ஒதுங்கு ஒதுங்கு by MV & kuzhu from the same movie.
What energy!
