Intros aside... Let me speak about one power packed fight scene ! That one in Thirupachi where he applies sandal to face with kumkum & the sequence of fight after it with that theme music :omg: My adrenaline had never shooted up that much before that  That majestic walk  Chanceless !

Honest,
Yes. That was a good sequence and good that you mentioned it with the video. As you said, Thirumalai set the perfect platform for Ghilli and it also helped people forget the Udhaya debacle which released between Thirumalai and Ghilli. The trimmed mush also showed Vijay much younger. Compare Priyamaanavale Vijay with Thirumalai Vijay and you would see the difference.
And another surprise was Kavithalaya signing Vijay. They don't often do mass entertainers and if I am not wrong, Thirumalai and Saamy are the only ones.

MB,
Rajni was kind of their own 'set property'. Thats why I dint mention those 2 films. Thiruvannamalai, yes, its a news to me. :)

One of my favourite duets of Vijay. Rendered by Sriram Parthasarathy and Saindhavi, this song is a melody with an abnormal pace to it. And for someone like Vijay, who looks so energetic on the screen, this song fits like a 'T'.
'Hai' Madhan, who was a part of Ananda Vikatan, spoke very highly of this song. The BO result of this movie may have made the public forget the whole album. But its a treasure for all ARR fans.

As far as intro scene is concerned, my favorite one is Pokkiri :smokesmirk: followed by ghilli
pokkiri la shutter ah close panitu adikara scene :notworthy:
My favorite intro song :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFZ-LW2e8uM
Not one of my favourite movies, but I liked this scene. In fact this scene was my only solace in an otherwise forgettable watching experience. I am talking about Kuruvi and the club fight. Vidyasagar’s background score and Vijay’s intensity makes this scene a definite watch and I have liked this more over the years. Offcourse, the sequence has a few over the top flying, but we are talking about Kuruvi here and considering other high-fly’s in the movie, the ones’ in this sequence are a lot better.

Are we on to songs now?
If so, this could lead to some of the best Vijay discussions/sharing in hub.
I am sure a lot of us, not just fans, even a lot of neutral hubbers' here would have a list of Vijay songs that would be in their favourite's list.
Infact, the popularity/adulation some of them have enjoyed over the years has been pretty unbelievable.
Vijay is probably the only actor who can carry both a fast dance number and a slow melody with nonchalant grace and ease.
Let's share the very best of Vijay's songs :)
I would like to start with everyone's favourite from the maestro.

It has always given me an impression that Udhayanidhi got the call sheets of Vijay, Trisha and roped in Dharani and then they wrote up a story in quick time just for the sake of making a movie with this hit combo. There were few Dharani touches but as a whole, the movie disappointed the general audience. And the songs weren't good too. When a combo returns after delivering an all time blockbuster, the expectations would be sky high and you have to fulfill at least half of it. It didn't happen in the case of Kuruvi.

Heard the news Thalaivar is coming to Vijay Awards tomorrow.. Fingers crossed :)
I agree Ajay. Everything looked rushed and half-baked, beginning from the title.
Dharani tried to make a typical Dharani/Vijay movie in the first half and took a more serious 'Charkram' theme in the second half. Both looked under-cooked.
Nevertheless, Vijay's brilliance was to be seen atleast in this club fight sequence :)
Thuppakki full movie in youtube has garnered 3 Million views so far... :smokesmirk: Is it a record? Because i cant find any full tamil films with more than 3million views.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5A7NrebfeZ4
I think my daughter will be soon beating this record singlehandedly. She watches Jilla twice a day.

Thats an amazing song cedy bro.. Vijay's grace.. expressions.. steps  pure class!! Raaja's gem..brilliant composition...what a genius he is! My alltime favorite vijay song too..thanx for sharing it.. Wish we see Raaja working with thalaivar soon..
After seen the first look of Kuruvi, I thought the movie will be a dark action thriller . Hit combo + first look increased expectations only to get disappointed.
It was a wasted oppurtunity for everyone in the team. As Uday rightly said, they shud had given impotance to story and screeplay rather than hit combination.
As a VJ fan we always have soemthing to enjoy in a movie even if its a disaster (Naan nadandhal in Sura ) ... Things I liked in Kuruvi
1. Promotion posters
2. Thaen Thaen and Happy new year song
3. Bar fight with theme music background
4. Kaadu na singam - Sequence after interval
hmmm ... my first VJ movie in US. Indha poster-kum padathukkum yedhavadhu sambantham irunthucha .

Dialogue writer Bharahan's absence also has to be noted.
I thought Dharani had slipped in Kuruvi and he ll make a good come back. But Osthi was like he is done.
A.R.Murugadoss @ARMurugadoss :
Vijay sir said ARIMA NAMBI is outstanding .. congrats ANAND SANKAR .. feeling Exhited to watched it tomo ...
Remember this first look of kuruvi, Vinod!
It raised expectations of another magical venture from Vijay-Dharani.
Rumours were rife those days that Kuruvi was based on Transporter.

Why? What happened?
Another video we missed sharing. KS Ravi Kumar's comments about Vijay.
Watch from 4.21
He says "They say after MGR it was Rajini and after Rajini it's Vijay. Why should Vijay only do mass movies...along with heroism movies, if he could choose some different scripts, then we can use Super from Superstar and Nayagan from Ulaganayagan and label him as "Super Nayagan"

Dammy, if you remember KSR in another audio release openly requested Vijay to try working in different genre. I don't remember which audio function. Vijay had announced that he will work in the remake of 3 Idiots and after hearing Vijay say this, KSR spoke in length about how Vijay can expand his horizons if he chooses different movies.
In a lot of ways, KSR may have triggered this positive change in Vijay.
Good share, bro :)
