Excellent work. You should compile all your posts to create a book, or start your own blog!
// One watches RK films esp the late 80's to relieve stress and to have fun. On this basis I re visited "vellaikaran" , but went on depression mode after hearing RK's introductory song! Why ? Why does rAsA do this? Why??? and I had to forward vaa vaa vaa , even though it had the beautiful amala :( //
Why IR ?

Reg Konji konji...
That was the only song where Roja looked pretty.
aarmoniya pottiya kooda ivvlo styleaa pidikka mudiyumaa? yes appdingraar super *.
Sendhiloda kavalai kalandha thabala - is one more serious but funny thing in the song.
I was crazy about the visuals that Suressh krishna had built up for this song - verum medai paattaa adhai treat pannaadhadhu
great.
one more thing - this movie and mahanadhi were one of the earliest thamizh movies to use "AVID" editing.
AVID enables smoother scene transitions - that could make the viewer believe that a tracking trolley shots arranged back to back flowed as one
single shot.
So in this song when the visual of Rajini playing harmonium in the open field is shown in a tracking trolley shot, a tree blocks and immediate cut out was Rajini playing harmonium in the auditorium and Roja snaps out of her imagination - The AVID cuts in between both the shots was nicely done and Raja would have punctuated the transition with a quick synth key and guitar half notes (I believe) (I should give more credit to Suressh Krissna here for complementing a beautiful point in the song with a nice edit). A similar scene transition is employed in Mananadhi's Shrirangaranga - song when the camera tracks the Krishnaswamy family walking in the temple from behind the pillars and when it goes behind one final pillar, the shot is cut and the next shot opens with them walking out - nicely shot, edited and put together.. Apart from the music and lyrics, these picturisation aspects also make these two songs stand out.
How did every one miss SPB's birthday ?
Belated birthday wishes to "Paadagar Thilagam" :notworthy:
