முழுப்படத்தையும் 35 நாட்களில் எடுத்து முடித்து விட்டார், மனோபாலா. இதுவும் வெற்றிப்படமானது. மனோபாலா பற்றி சொல்லும்போது, "ஆலிவுட்டில் புகழ் பெற்ற `பென்ஹர்' படத்தைக் கூட 40 நாளில் எடுத்து முடித்து விடுவார்'' என்று சொல்வார்கள். அந்த அளவுக்கு டைரக்ஷனில் வேகமானவர் மனோபாலா.
இந்தப்படத்தில் எனக்கும் ஷோபனாவுக்கும் ஒரு போட்டி நடனம் வருகிற மாதிரி காட்சி இருந்தது. கதை சொல்லும்போதே அதைச் சொல்லி விட்டார்கள் என்றாலும், நடனத்துக்கென்றே பிறந்த ஷோபனா எங்கே... நடனமே தெரியாமல் நடிக்க வந்த நானெங்கே?
போகப்போக சினிமாவுக்கேற்ற நடனங்களை, மாஸ்டர்கள் கற்றுத் தருவதை வைத்து ஆடிக் கொண்டிருந்தேன். அதாவது ஓரளவுக்கு நடனத்தில் தேர்ந்திருந்தேன் என்று வேண்டுமானால் சொல்லலாம். இதில் பெரிய கூத்து, இந்த நடனப் போட்டியில் நான்தான் ஷோபனாவை ஜெயிக்கிறேன்! மல்லு வேட்டியை மடித்துக் கட்டியபடி `அடிவாடி' என்று நான் பாடுகிற பாடல் கூட இளையராஜா இசையில் தயாராகி விட்டது.
படப்பிடிப்பு கோபிசெட்டிபாளையத்தில் நடந்தது. ஷோபனாவுக்கும் எனக்குமான நடன போட்டியை படமாக்கும் நாள் நெருங்க நெருங்க, என் மனம் `திக்..திக்..' என்று அடித்துக் கொண்டது.
கோபியில் உள்ள எமரால்டு ஓட்டலில் தான் படப்பிடிப்பு குழுவினர் தங்கியிருந்தோம். நான் டான்ஸ் மாஸ்டர் புலிïர் சரோஜாவிடம், "என்ன மாஸ்டர்! நான் ஷோபனாவை நடனப் போட்டியில் ஜெயிக்க வேண்டும்! இது எப்படி முடியும்?'' என்றேன்.
அவரோ, "கவலைப்படாதீங்க. டான்ஸ் எடுக்கிறதுக்கு மூணு நாளைக்கு முன்னாடியே உங்களுக்கு ஸ்பெஷல் டிரெயினிங் கொடுத்து விடுகிறேன்'' என்றார்.
சொன்னது போலவே ஓட்டலின் மொட்டை மாடியில் பயிற்சி கொடுத்தார். படப்பிடிப்பு முடிந்தபின், இரவு வேளையில் முட்டி பெயர்ந்து போகும் அளவுக்கு நடனப் பயிற்சி கொடுத்தார்!
நடனப் போட்டி படமாக்கப்படும் நாளும் வந்தது. கோபியில் உள்ள பாரிïர் கோவில் முன்பாக பக்தர்கள் நடுவில் இந்த நடனக் காட்சியை எடுத்தார்கள். படப்பிடிப்புக்கு வந்ததும் என்னைப் பார்த்து சிரித்தபடியே தலையில் அடித்துக் கொண்ட ஷோபனா, "பாருங்க சார்! உங்ககிட்ட நடனமாடி நான் தோற்கிற மாதிரி ஆகப் போகுதே!'' என்றார்.
நான் அவரிடம், "உங்க அத்தை பத்மினி நாட்டியப் பேரொளின்னு பட்டம் வாங்கினவங்க. அவங்க புரட்சி நடிகர் எம்.ஜி.ஆருடன் நடித்த `மன்னாதி மன்னன்' படத்தில் நடனப் போட்டியில் தோற்கிற மாதிரி தானே நடித்தார்கள்'' என்றேன். பதிலுக்கு அவர், "எம்.ஜி.ஆரும் நீங்களும் ஒன்றா?'' என்று கிண்டலை தொடர்ந்தார்.

டிஜிட்டலில் டிஜிட்டலில் புதுப்பிக்கப்பட்ட இந்தப் படம் கடந்த மார்ச் 14-ந்தேதி 122 தியேட்டர்களில் திரையிடப்பட்டது. திவ்யா பிலிம்ஸ் சொக்கலிங்கம் இப்படத்தை வெளியிட்டார்.

However, if Pandhulu felt that he suffered losses due to Kappaottiya Thamizhan, a hall mark movie that always upholds Pandhulu's prestige and honour besides the epic Karnan and the Silver Jubilee mega hit Veerapandiya Kattabomman, he would not have again booked NT for his Karnan or Bale Paandiya or Muradan Muthu. If Muradan Muthu had been announced as the 100th film of NT, Pandhulu would not have changed his camp! Coming to the present situation the whole Tamil Nadu knows the behind the screen happenings after the rerelease of AO which disappeared from almost all the screens, except two theatres in Chennai in which it is run!! This was the first film which paired Jayalalithaa with MGR and gave instant popularity as the best pair in Kollywood. The film was also a milestone for MGR in his career.
The revamped edition of the film was released across the state in more than 120 theatres by Divya Films after the runaway success of Sivaji Ganesan starrer Karnan that was released last year. The film had its sound and picture quality enhanced.
AIADMK men hoped that the film would lure party workers and act as a propaganda tool in the wake of stringent guidelines on publicity material like posters and banners for electioneering. In Madurai, the film was also released in Ganesh, Annamalai, Meenakshi and Mani Impala theatres besides Tamil Jaya.
These theatres also recorded a poor turnout but for the night show on Friday. "Only 200 tickets were sold for all three shows,'' said another theatre manager. The poor turnout was despite huge publicity given to the re-release.
R M M Annamalai, state president, Theatre Owners' Association, said that they could not ascertain the reason for poor turnout. "Ticket price might be one reason. Most films screened nowadays face a similar fate,'' he said.
A theatre manager, however, reasoned that large number of AIADMK cadres had left for Tuticorin to attend Jayalalithaa's meeting. "Those in the city are also involved in election work. We hope that the turnout would increase in the coming days,'' he said.

One is the pleasing jubilant situation for them in view of their celebrations on AOs 100 days run and the other is a grieving situation of the sudden demise of the mother of one of their prime hubbers.
