As an MD his beyond imagination, but some of his songs(sung by him) by "default" should have gone to SPB, like 'Raaja raaja raajathi raajah'.

On a 'personal' view, I am quite annoyed with him for not using SPB (his old best mate) in his new projects. He was a member of SPB's musical band in the early 70's prior to him becoming a composer.

And more ever, he has suthapified awesome songs (which should have gone to SPB ) by promoting Mano, I can list 100's songs like this

1) nee oru kadhal sangeetham
2) Shenbagame shenbagme
3) Nila kaayum neram saranam
...

paramu, your views on this is well known. I just meant that this is the first not sung by SPB that you have appreciated(AFAIK) hence I thought let me express my awe on IR for making you appreciate his singing :-)

I some how felt IR 's voice suited actor 'Karthik'.

And one more from the same film "oru kaNam oru yugamAga". The pangs are deeper in this case as IR takes over in the second stanza, thereby showing what we missed with mano until then....

2) Inji idupazhagi - this is a SPB song
3) sundari neeyum sundari
4) pottu vaitha kathal thitak OK kanmani . wow kamal would reach very high notes without 'much' efforts, this is quite amazing for a 'non' professional singer :yes:

Yes Kamal had sung a lot of song effortlessly and his singing talent is appreciable. I remember once in an interview when he mentioned that he wanted to become a vocalist and that he was trained in carnatic music during his childhood.

Ram Ram title song from "Hey Ram" is another example where he has reached high notes without effort.

AvEshamanthA AlApanElE - for no reason, the song has been ringing in my ears from the morning. I didnt hear it recently. I didnt read about it. I didnt read anything remotely connected to it or its cast.

The song is all about tune and SPB.

I was just listening to another song which had Karthik and Monisha in the lead.. This has all the ingredients of an ilayaraja song and is a true delight to watch and listen.Though I have heard a similar kind of song like this before...but unable to figure that now..

prema beram teepi neram - fanstastic bass, guitar works...a fabulous tune sung superbly by susheela...repeatedly been listening to this old song...anyone can shed more light on this telugu song...

prema beram teepi neram is a dubbed version of Nilavu Neram from the Rajini Movie Annai Oru aalayam. But indeed a great song with awesome bass.
