  Saravanan -
Why am I caught in this hilarious loop (a "chaadu" carry-over? hangover? over??)I know not, but this song is rooming in my head for the last 48 hours -
 Maaruvadhu Society
 Ullagam Pala Variety
 Theduvadhu Beauty
 (???) En Duty
(I am sure this is not an ARR comp :-)) as it was sung by LRE from some 60s film?)
What a "looty" of song!! Any details?

Saravanan, isn't Avandhan Manithan first Stereo audio?
Surya: Oonjalukku poo chooti is such a joyful complsotion!!!!
 3. Manithan ninaippathuNdu vaazhvu
AVM's Uyarndha uLLam ( Kamal, Ambika, Radharavi) has shades of Avanthaan Manithan.

 Surya, add:
 4. Anbu nadamaadum kalaikkoodame (this is the fantastic duet I am talking about, IR gave something like that in Anthapurathiloru Magarani for Sivaji. Super duets, both)
 5. aatuvithaal yaaroruvar
Those days, what made these composers do original stuff is what I find amazing. Their belief in the strenght of the carnatic system versus today' composers belief in loops and foreign sounding Tamil. It is good as long as you can get a mix of classical tunes and modern sounds. Is it because our today's composers have no strong classical music grounding like MSV and KVM or is it because they think Indian classical music is not useful?

Music4ever: Maragada Megham is by SP-PS from "Megatthukkum Daagamundu". It also had SP-VJ and SP-SJ duets. Talking of Ninaithale Inikkum, two short but sweet songs went largely unnoticed:
 Nizhal Kandavan, What a waiting!

 KaathirundhEn kaathirundhEn
 kaadhal manam nogum varai
 paarthirundhaL paarthirundhaL
 pachai kiLi saatchi solla
followed by a guitar (?) piece. There was one more song by LRE. Ananda thaandavamo? I don't remember the nizhal kandavan bit though :) Thanks for the Maragadha megam info.

  Saravanan,
Thanks 4 the info, I did not realy like that song on first time listening, is this available any where on line, who was the heroine of that film, which year was that film released, I suppose Shivaji did a double role right??
 Sriram,
Guitar was more amazing in the following songs, in my opinion
 1) Engeyum eppothum sangeetham
 2) En iniya pon nilave
 3) Enadi Meenakshi sonnathu enachu
 4) sampo sivasambo
