Nilachoru - a short first hearing review
After a looong wait for the actual audio release after the audio launch, I was able to get a copy of the CD. It seems that the audio has been released by Raaja himself under the name "Raaja Digital Co.". Usually R.Sunderrajan's films will have atleast a minimum of six songs. But in this film, we have only 5 songs (one of them is a repeat). Whether R.Sunderrajan has still the old magic to deliver - we are not sure. But our man's magical music is intact!
Kallalae Senju Vacha - Pick of the Album. A refreshing Lullaby in Tamil after a very long time (Maybe after Nee Thoongum Nerathil from Manasellam). Haricharan has done a splendid job. As usual, Vaali's lyrics adds additional flavour to the melody. Again, Raaja has come out with a beautiful new rhythm pattern for the Pallavi. In the second portion of the Saranams, the continuous flow of Tabla which has a constant pause (silence) bowls you over. Interludes are sadly short.
Kalaiyilae Maalai vandhadhu - A new pattern song - Usage of Veena and Nadhaswaram brings a divine mood to the hearing. Sung by Sabthaparnar (Female). And his trusted lyricist Pulamaipithan does a neat job. Only experts from this forum have the eligibility to analyse this song.
Ungappan Perai Solli - A nayandi song (no compromise on melody front) with Raaja at his usual best. The chorus compliments his voice through out the song. Slow Drums pattern - still very enthuastic. Surprise - Gangai Amaran has penned this song for Raaja after a gap of many years!
Nandri Solla Vendum - Again a classy Divine feel duet. Sung by Karthik and Priyadarshini. Lyrics - Palani Bharathi. Usage of traditional instruments through out the song is refreshing. Can be compared to "Aagaya Vennilavae" category.
Kallalae Senju Vacha - Female version. Priyadarshini is brilliant. Tough to pick between her and Haricharan
Overall a refreshing Melody package - Hearing such melody songs in 2013 is something like finding a group of sparrows in our cities. Only Raaja can dare to deliver such pure musical form admist the garbage being dished out today. This Album will certainly going to haunt us for long...
