If made, I guess Rajini would be the older Dharmadurai-like. And yeah, the son would fail. It would be overdose in the 90s, the whole Rajini as dad and son thingy going on (Muthu, Arunachalam).
When Indian came out I was wondering why Kamal was doing a Rajini with the hair. But I felt that time that the goddam wig was all over his pancake makeup he hadda keep pushing it up and aside. I don't think Shankar is intricate enough to get Kamal to do that. Talk about retrofitting your memories....

Son dad is one simple reason to cast him. That apart, the main reason is Business. The risk attempt is the negative shade in that role but other commercial ingredients made ppl convinced and forget those things. apart, that chandru role demanded only that much na?! Its not meant for a spectacular performance at all. And I very much enjoyed the nakkals, comedy, and lou angle(limited one as its not a lou story, after all). Standards, class acts ellaam othukku vechittu paNNina commercial role athu. Worked well. I find nothing in casting him in that role. Otherwise, the movie would not have reached the commercial success what it got, inspite of the dad role being spectacular.

Indian ThAthA role was an excellent and powerful one.. That kind of role really requires either Kamal or Rajini.. Shankar did Mudhalvan with Arjun since he did not get Rajini, if he tried this thAthArole with with someone else it would have been a total failure..Quote:

I really do not know why people have to bring Kamal's acting in Indian just because it is regular commercial fare. Just because it was not their type movie, it is not right to bring down the movie. Indian was a good commercial movie and Old kamal acting was the lifeline of the whole movie. Kamal may have deserved national award more than Indian for some of his movie but it does not necessarily mean indian's acting is bad.
