Nallathoru Kudumbam
This time its my favourite & my mother’s favourite rare NT movie Nallathoru Kudumbam. I guess it must be a remake as it is from NT’s best friend MR. K Balaji. It has my favourite heroine with NT Vanisri might probably be her last movie with NT. It is a family entertainer where the couples marry after falling in love and separate due to misunderstanding . Whether the couple unite forms the climax of the movie.
For those who did not find an opportunity of watching this movie Pl read further(Spoilers ahead):
Raja(NT) is a rich man who lives with his grandfather. He is a kind of playboy. His family friend cum servant is Vanishree but she grew along with him so she take liberties of kidding him . Those scenes are a treat to watch. The so called chemistry that is widely said those guys must watch this pair its like father for all those so called chemistry not limited to love scenes, songs but a genuine give & take as well as scoring in each scenes by lead actors Kudos to NT & Vanishree.
Circumstances arise which result in marriage of NT & Vanishree. NT becomes a dutiful husband & a responsible doctor. He does not fall a prey to his old flirting act though provoked( Could be a lead which Kamal sir developed in Panchatantiram?) NT leads a happy life with his wife & son named Ram
His lady friend’s kid falls ill & NT treats it but asks her to call back if necessary but Vanishree does not respond to calls & answers in negative resulting in baby’s death which angers NT resulting in their separation.
The scenes where NT questions Vanishree and the way she gives answers is a tip of iceberg of their acting talents . NT’s son Ram stays with him while she leaves the house when she is pregnant . As 20 years roll Ram is now a adult( Sekar ) and the child which was in Vanishree’s womb is now Laxman( Master Sridhar) . Master Sridhar works in factory run by NT & his friend as usual Major.
In due course of time both Ram & Laxman becomes friends & Vanishree comes to know that Ram is her son and treats him well.
Major & NT decides to conduct marriage for their daughter & son but Ram elopes with Kutty Padmini & gets married. He gets blessings from Vanishree .
Vanishree calls NT to a park to reveal about Ram’s marriage and asks to excuse Ram . She asks NT’s opinion about Laxman , from getting positive feedback she reveals that he is Nt’s son raised by her.
Again Laxman falls in love with Major’s daughter Deepa marries her and gets blessings from NT .
NT calls Vanishree to the same park to reveal about Laxman’s marriage and asks to excuse Laxman.
Tit for tat .Those two scenes and in the scene where NT receives a call from Vanishree after 20 years , NT reaction, dressing are just a treat (Kindly remember once more reunion scene & Thirisoolam scene where NT runs in steps in joy on speaking to her wife ) Same situation but different action , its only from our NT
But both parents are treated shabbily by their respective daughter in laws , in case of NT his daughter in law’s father commits an accident and beats NT’s servant which angers NT . Kutty Padmini hurts NT , NT then moves out. Here Vanishree moves out as she is treated shabbily by her Daughter in Law.
NT then beats Laxman , here Vanishree beats Ram they both reveal that they are their father and mother. The family lived happily thereafter
It is a two people show all the way 1.As usual NT 2. Vanishree. If their younger days reminded us of their Sivakamiyin selvan naughty scenes, latter half is complete new dimension.
If we take a trip down memory lane we can very well note Vanishree will join NT only at end or she will die in middle or NT will die ( Vasantha Maligai, Uyrantha Manithan, Sivakamiyin Selvan & others)
Songs composed by Ilayaraja , written by Kannadasan are good
The only drawback or speed breaker for this movie is comedy track by Thengai & Manorama
For those people who try to bring down NT by saying that he did not give good movies in later part of his career or ridiculing him for overacting you can very well watch this movie before commenting further

கதைச்சுருக்கம் நன்றாக இருந்தது. நடிகர்திலகம் வாணிஸ்ரீ ஜோடியின் கடைசிப்படம். ராமர்-சீதை கல்யானக்காட்சியை வி.கே.ஆருக்கு, வாணிஸ்ரீ படித்துக்காட்ட, அதில் நடிகர்த்திலகத்தும் வாணிஸ்ரீக்கும் திருமணம் நடப்பதாக கற்பனை செய்தவாறு வி.கே.ஆர்.உயிரை விடும் கட்டம் மனதைத்தொடும்.
ஊருக்கு புறப்படும் நடிகர்திலகத்திடம் தன காதலை வெளிப்படுத்தும் விதமாக ஒவ்வொரு பொருளும் எடுத்து வைத்து விட்டு 'மறந்துடாதீங்க' 'மறந்துடாதீங்க' என்று சொல்லும்போது, 'எதை மறந்துடாதீங்கன்னு சொல்றே?' என்று கேட்கும் நடிகர்திலகத்தின் கண்களை நேருக்கு நேருக்கு பார்த்தவண்ணம் சற்று நிறுத்தி, "மறந்துடாதீங்க" என்று கெஞ்சும் தோரணையில் சொல்ல, அவர் காதலை நடிகர்திலகம் புரிந்துகொள்ளும் இடம், ஆகா என்ன ஒரு ஜோடி என்று அதிசயிக்க வைக்கும். (அதுக்காக 'அண்ணி' பட்டமெல்லாம் கொடுத்திட மாட்டேன். அது எங்க அண்ணிக்கு மட்டும்தான்) .
இளைய ஜோடிகள் இரண்டும் டூயட் பாடும்போது இடையே, நடிகர்திலகத்தையும் வாணியையும் ஜோடியாக கைகோர்த்து நடப்பதைக்காட்டும்போது, 'எப்படி காதலிப்பது என்பதை இவர்களைப்பர்த்து கற்றுக்கொள்ளுங்கள்' என்று இளசுகளுக்கு சொல்லித்தருவது போல இருக்கும். தன மகன் லக்ஷ்மணன் (ஸ்ரீதர்) தன நண்பன் என்று தன்னிடம் அறிமுகப்படுத்தும் ராமு (சேகர்), தன மகன்தான் என்பதைக்கண்டு கொண்டதும், மகன்கள் அறியாமல் வாணியின் கண்களில் பொங்கி வழியும் பாசப்பெருக்கு அப்பப்பா, என்ன ஒரு நடிகை இவர் என்று வியக்கத்தோன்றும். 'சிந்து நதிக்கரையோரம்' பாடல் ஒரு அருமையான அடிஷனல் போனஸ் லட்சிய ஜோடியின் கடைசி டூயட் மிக அற்புதமாக அமைந்து மனதுக்கு நிறைவளிக்கும் விதமாக படமாக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும்.
படத்தின் முடிவும் மனதுக்கு நிறைவாக இருந்தபோதிலும், வாழவேண்டிய வயதுகளை வீம்புக்காக வீணாக்கிய ஜோடி என்ற வருத்தம் மேலிடுகிறது.
தேங்காய்-மனோரமா வல்கர் நகைச்சுவை பற்றிக் குறிப்பிட்டீர்கள். ஒரு விஷயம் சொன்னால் ஆச்சரியப்படுவீர்கள். படம் வெளிவந்தபோது சத்யம் தியேட்டரில் ஆண்களை விட பெண்கள் இந்த "வில்லங்க நகைச்சுவைக்கு' விழுந்து விழுந்து சிரித்ததைக் கண்டு வியந்தவர்கள் நாங்கள். ஆனால் படத்துக்கு இந்த நகைச்சுவை ஒரு பின்னடைவு என்பதில் ஐயமில்லை.
"படம் வெளிவந்தபோது சத்யம் தியேட்டரில் ஆண்களை விட பெண்கள் இந்த "வில்லங்க நகைச்சுவைக்கு' விழுந்து விழுந்து சிரித்ததைக் கண்டு வியந்தவர்கள் நாங்கள்"

மற்றபடி யாருடைய ரசனைக்கும் யாரும் கடிவாளம் போட முடியாது, போடவும் கூடாது.

நன்றி, கார்த்திக் அவர்களே. ஒரு senior hubber என்ற வகையில் உங்கள் கருத்துக்கள் மிகவும் உற்சாகத்தை தருகின்றன. அந்த வரிகள் உங்களை குறித்து எழுதப்பட்டவையல்ல, சொந்த அனுபவத்தினால் வந்தது. யார், எதை, எப்படி ரசிக்க வேண்டும் என்ற மனப்பாங்கு இத்திரியில் சிலரிடம் காணப்படுகிறது. அதற்காக முறையற்ற வார்த்தை பிரயோகங்களை பயன்படுத்தவும் சிலர் தயங்கவில்லை. யாரோ எழுதிய, யாராலோ உச்சரிக்கப்பட்ட வார்த்தைகளை கேட்டு பெண்கள் சிரித்தால் அல்லது விமர்சனம் செய்தால் அது சிலருக்கு வெறுப்பேற்றுகிறது. ஆனால் சில பக்கங்கள் முன்னால் போனால் தெரியும், 'பெண்களால் ரசிக்கப்படக்கூடாது' என்று சொல்லப்படுகின்ற சில காட்சிகள் ஆழ்ந்து ரசிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கின்றன. இதைத்தான் இங்கே சிலர் நகைமுரண் என்று அடிக்கடி சொல்கிறார்களோ?!!!
Thirumal Perumai
NT’s next collobration with APN again resulted in mythological flick Thirumal Perumai . In case of NT he was in supreme form in the year 1967 with hatrick success in the form of Thiruarutchelvar, Iru Malargal, Ooty Varai uravu. While both Iru Malargal and Ooty Varai uravu released on same day during Deepavali(My father watched both the movies back to back on the same day and was quite happy for both its success) while Thiruarutchelvar was by APN .
Naturally expectations must have been very high considering APN – NT combo and NT success streak.
To begin with I guess its not APN’s own movie as the movie banner was Thiruvenkateswara movies .
As discussed in previous posts this movie too had a stellar cast with Sowcar Janaki joining in it probably for the first time . The technical team was almost the same art: Ganga, Music KV Mahadevan, CameraMan: TS Rangasamy. As usual the movie describes about Lord Vishnu with 5 stories inter woven into a fine screenplay
The movie begins in bright note with Venkatachalapathy’s Arti and Nagesh & his crew doing a kala Kalatchcheybam about Thirumal Perumai. The first story is about Lord Mahalakshmi expressing her desire to Lord Vishnu to be with Periya Alwar who sings songs in name of God . Lord blesses her to be born as a child and Periya Alwar adopts her. The girl child grows out to be Kutty Padmini. Periya Alwar is of course NT. NT describes Krishna Leela to Kothai .
In Krishna Leela we are shown very well known story of Lord Krishna eating butter, Butter milk, Ghee . Kothai falls in love with Kannan and garlands him but Periya Alwar scolds her but when Kothai garlands Lord in temple the statue turns Gold now the child becomes Andal(KR Vijaya) The Rest of this story is how Andal marries Kannan
NT is completely at ease as Periya Alwar his body language is too perfect as a docile devotee . His face too is full of innocence as if he knew nothing except God . Kutty Padmini & KR Vijaya also has done their part well. Nagesh appears as Lord Krishna’s friend in this sub part also.
NT’s costume is just Silk Dhoti with Red border which enhances NT’s look & conveys his character well . He is just a devotee which establishes that with his costumes, dress. NT sports a lean look in this portion
Thirumangai Alwar
In next episode rather best episode NT is a warrior Neelan who is Commander for Cholan(MN Nambiyar) After winning a battle Cholan makes Neelan a king for Thirumangai and arranges to marry Kumudhavalli(Sowcar ) with NT. NT becomes a devotee to Lord Vishnu and decides to construct a temple Whether he achieves it is the story for this part
If you have watched docile NT in first part then you have a surprise in store in this part as NT as Neelan , warrior eludes pride in each frame, each part of his body acts as per his command. The scenes where MN Nambiyar gives him a country to rule, NT’s refusal, on persuation his acceptance, again when MN Nambiyar gives him a proposal to marriage NT’s stammering but his manliness in it whaw----------
Again in first night scene where Vasu sir gave snap shots yesterday NT’s wandering aimlessly, impatiently , piercing an apple with a knife, Looking at mirror, checking his body, His open conversation with Sowcar that he is inexperienced in these matters but with a sense of pride will certainly evoke smile also he compares it with battlefield, opponents, we can just say “ You are great” it would be a word we cannot find another word to describe his performance
As time roll King becomes a pauper and finally a thief, Lord appears. Sivakumar as a bridegroom (Lord Vishnu) is good and his smile reminds us of Actor Surya
Episode 3:
Its about Vipra Narayanan(NT) and Deva Devi who makes an attempt to love Vipra Narayanan and play with his emotions. In this episode it is Padmini as Deva Devi who oozes sensual performance in an attempt to tempt NT. Lord Vishnu plays a prank which lands VIpra narayan in trouble . Nt gives an contrasting performance compared to proud warrior in previous episode as a young saint whose world is only his ashram and Lord. He displays a gamut of emotions in rain scene when he sees Padmini drenched in rain and subsequently when he sees her changing her dress. Also as an helpless lover who is insulted by Padmini’s mother he genuinely allows veteran SN Lakshmi Madam to overpower him.
Finally Lord Vishnu’s 10 avathars is shown brilliantly
Though a good movie I guess it was not a hit compared to other APN-NT movies. I felt something was missing in the movie don’t know what was exactly missing.

நிஜமாகவே வருத்தப்படவேண்டிய செய்தி. என் அபிமானப் பாடகி ஷம்ஷத் பேகம் அவர்களின் மறைவு மிகுந்த சோகத்தை ஏற்படுத்தி விட்டது. பஞ்சாப் அமிர்தசரஸில் பிறந்த இவர் பல சாதனைகளுக்கு சொந்தக்காரர். கே.பி. சுந்தராம்பாள் மற்றும் பி.லீலா இருவரின் குரல்வளங்களின் ஒன்று சேர்ந்த வெண்கலக் குரல் கலவை இவருடையது. கணீரென்ற இவரின் அட்டகாசமான குரலுக்கு மயங்காதவர் எவருமில்லை என்றே சொல்ல வேண்டும். பழைய இந்திப்பட பாடல் விரும்பிகளுக்கு மிக பரிச்சயமானவர். இவர் பாடிய பாடல்களின் கேசட்டுகளுக்கு நான் பைத்தியமாக அலைந்ததுண்டு. மும்பைக்கு என் உறவினர் ஒருவர் இங்கிருந்து சென்ற போது ஷம்ஷத் பேகம் அவர்களின் பாடல்களின் கேசட்டுகளை வாங்கி வரச் சொல்லியிருந்தேன். சென்னையில் எங்கு தேடியும் கிடைக்க வில்லை. உறவினரும் மும்பையில் கிடைக்காமல் எங்கெங்கோ அலைந்து ஒரு கேசட்டை வாங்கி வந்து தந்தார். புதையல் கிடைத்தது போல அவ்வளவு சந்தோஷமடைந்தேன். பத்திரமாக இன்றளவும் அதைப் பாதுகாத்து வருகிறேன். கண்களில் நீர் நிறைகிறது.
இவர் பாடிய "Boojh mera kya naam re" மற்றும் "Leke pehla pehla pyar" (CID -1956), "Saiyan dil mein aana re" (Bahar -1951), "Kajra mohabbat wala" (Kismat -1968) பாடல்களை காலாகாலத்துக்கும் மறக்கவே முடியாது. இசை உள்ளவரை இந்த அபூர்வ குரல் கொண்ட பாடகியின் புகழ் எட்டுத் திசைகளிலும் அவரின் வளமான குரலின் மூலம் எதிரொலித்துக் கொண்டே இருக்கும். அவரது ஆன்மா சாந்தியடைய எல்லாம் வல்ல இறைவனை இறைஞ்சுகிறேன்.
அம்மையாரது நினைவாக 'CID' இந்திப் படத்திலிருந்து அவரது அருமையான குரலில் ஒலிக்கும் 'Leke pehla pehla pyar' (CID -1956) பாடலின் மூலம் அவருக்கு என் கண்ணீர் அஞ்சலியைச் செலுத்துகிறேன்.
