Vishwaroopam2 is much grander and more expensive! My character will evolve as more layers peel off. The backdrop is intriguing with bigger challenges faced by the protagonist : Kamal Haasan
After the recent incident, are you anxious about Shruti's safety?
Shruti has always been a brave girl who has gone through a lot. It is not easy when you have to deal with your parents' separation. She has seen a broken marriage at home, and for better or worse, that has taught her a lot. Yes I'm worried for her, like any other father would be and have asked her to be safe.
Your younger daughter #Akshara is making her debut opposite #Dhanush in #Balki 's film...
Well, we are a film family, and I like the fact that we are constantly extending and becoming prolific. I'm very happy for Akshara.
How involved are you in their careers?
Not really. We do talk about who is doing what, but I'm not the kind of father who is constantly advising his children on what to do. I will admit that I've had more conversations with Shruti on films as compared to Akshara. Eventually, they are the ones responsible for their decisions.
Coming back to #IFFI, you have been a regular....How has the festival grown?
Yes, but very slowly. As a film enthusiast I would like to see more activities, and not only in terms of the selection of films which has consistently improved but also in the quality of workshops, master classes and how the entire festival comes together. The government, which runs the festival, should do more for cinema and its infrastructure.
Can you be more specific?
Take Hollywood for example. It grew because of market expansion and a conscious effort by the filmmaking fraternity to package their films cleverly. We don't get 'inspired' by their style of film-making, we mimic it and the end result is a bad photocopy.
You've finished the sequel to #Vishwaroopam. Is the scale bigger?
The scale is much grander and more expensive! My character will evolve as more layers peel off. The backdrop is intriguing with bigger challenges faced by the protagonist.
Vishwaroopam was caught in a major controversy during its release. Aren't you worried for the sequel?
That was an engineered controversy and not something that erupted naturally.
Who was it engineered by?
It doesn't matter now. We aren't expecting any trouble with the sequel, and that's a relief .
"bigger challenges faced by the protagonist". wow..expecting a roller coaster ride.

While the first part of the film Vishwaroopam was released with Auro 3D sound only in Tamil, the second part will be released with Auro 3D sound in all three languages (Telugu, Hindi and Tamil); The mixing of which will happen in Hollywood shortly.
This development comes at a time when Ramanaidu Studios and Suresh Productions announced that a hundred new theatres will soon be equipped with Auro 11.1 by Barco; the next-generation three–layer sound technology from Auro Technologies powered by digital cinema pioneer Barco.
It's not about the money anymore : KamalHaasan..
Panaji : Frothy shorelines and gleaming sands is how most visitors remember Goa, but for Kamal Haasan , who proved that commercial and experimental cinema could blend long before the current unconventional wave of films, there are much better reasons to remember the coastal paradise.
"When I shot for Ek Duje Ke Liye, it was my first visit to Goa and the film was my 101st film," said the actor, at his hotel in Dona Paula in Goa on Friday. Haasan is in Goa as a special guest for the 44th International Film Festival of India (Iffi).
"There are two other reasons why Goa is special to me. There was a boy around the sets, who would be with me all day and liked to tell others I was his father. I would teach him swimming and spend a lot of time with him. Also, I liked Goan food a lot," revealed Haasan, adding that he is not able to eat as much Goan food as he would like during his visits now to the state.
Kamalji is among the few south Indian actors who command as much popularity among Hindi film audience. The Tamil actor said that working for more Hindi films doesn't make much economic sense unless the subject has a new challenge to offer. "For me, it is not about money alone. It is about expanding horizons and getting more audience," he said.
"But this time, the film will be called #Vishwaroopa II in Hindi and not roopam because the last time around the title made audiences think it was a dubbed film when it was made in Hindi," Kamal said.
The actor knots his brows at the thought of controversy helping the success of Vishwaroopam's first sequel. "Controversy doesn't help a film. How can controversy help a girl's marriage?" he remarked. He adds that the film's sequel was planned from the start and not because of the success of the first one.
The actor, director, musician and classical Indian dancer said that when he looks back at his career he feels he could have still done better 'to deserve the awards I won".
Not resting on his laurels, and there are far too many, Haasan is now planning a film in Malayalam. "I have done 50 Malayalam films and their industry feels I am a Malayalam actor who has gone on to do Tamil films," he laughed.
The actor said that his expectations from daughter Shruti as an actor are much higher as she has grown up watching great actors like Rajnikanth and hopped from set to set as a child...
