VALAIPOO KULAMBU (Kugan )
Suvai, here is the recipe. I am sure you can get the valaipoo,
in Korean supermarkets in Canada. I have bought them in Virginia.

VALAIPOO KULAMBU
Ingredients:
1 tbs oil
½ tsp mustard seeds
½ tsp funugreek seeds
½ tsp cumin seeds
1 sprig curry leaves.
3 pips garlic smashed
1 onion ground
1 big tomato chopped
2 tsp chillie powder
3 tsp coriander powder
¼ tsp tumeric powder
½ tsp pepper powder
1 tbs poppy seed powder
½ cup tamarind juice from a marble sized tamarind
2 cups thin coconut milk
2 cups valaipoo cleaned flowers
Salt to taste
¼ cup thick coconut milk
Method:
Heat oil in a pot, add in the seasonings and let it splutter.
Add in smashed garlic, let it brown a bit.
Add in the ground onion paste, saute well, add in the tomato.
Cook till mushy, add in all the powders, and cook till oil separates.
Add in the tamarind juice, and the thin coconut milk.
Add in the valaipoo flowers and enough salt.
Let it simmer till the flowers are cooked.
Add in the the thick coconut milk, let it come to a boil.
Remove and serve with rice.

TOFU STRIPS WITH SESAME SEEDS ( Kugan )

O.K this is a Western dish using chicken strips.
I used tofu strips and made it vegetarian.
The method is the same. Enjoy friends. Kugan
TOFU STRIPS WITH SESAME SEEDS
Ingredients:
1 tbs of oil
2 tsp of sesame seeds
2 cups of tofu strips
1 onion sliced
1 tbs soy sauce
1 tbs chillie sauce
¼ tsp pepper powder
Little salt
1 fresh red chillie sliced
1 tbs spring onion chopped
4 leaves of iceburg lettuce, cut into pieces
Method:
Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add in the sesame seeds.
Let them splutter, add in the tofu strips shallow fry them.
Let the tofu strips become little brown. Add in the onion slices.
Stir fry a little, add in the soy sauce, chillie sauce.
Add in the pepper powder, salt, fresh red chillie , stir fry once.
Add in the spring onions. Make a bed of iceburg lettuce on a plate.
Now pour the cooked tofu on the lettuce and serve hot.
