Your Top 10 Cine Personalities

I am not very fond of p.susheela vasanth :)

I feel she lacks the LIFE WHICH s.janaki had :)

I liked jikki, and l.r.iswari better.

I was expecting the Top 10 of the individual choice. Not necessarily the Top most cine personalities
in terms of talent or achivements or anything great. So there is no point in regretting on missing out
certain names in that list. Tastes differs. And there are lots of other external factors also apply to keep them as
your favourites.

My list also goes as per my liking towards those cine personalities. Not really based on talents or achivements.
However the talented ones also will come in my list.

Here goes mine..

1. M.G.R -- He is the one who i admire a lot. His positive approach in his movies is the main thing i like about him. I would say he is
a trendsetter. He is not definetly talent like many others. Still he should be in the list of Top 10, even in terms of
achievements. I believe more or less every actor after his generation followed his style of film making and became popular.
For me, he is one of the great achiever in Tamil cinema. Unargually the most popular Cine personality among Tamilians.

2. Kamalhasan - A complete cine personality. One among the few who made people to make notice of Tamil Cinema. We can keep on talking about
him. His achivements are endless. More is pending.

3. Ilayaraja - A genius. Though i like other musicians of current and past, he is the one i admire a lot. Enourmous talent he had considering
his background. Around 900 movies(unbelievable). Maximim of his movies had great music. Maximum of his tunes i believe were original.
The king of BGM.

4. Sivaji Ganesan -- We can definetly keep Shivaji as the meaning for the term Nadippu in any Tamil Dictionary. Anything is less to say
about him in acting department.

5. K. Bakhyaraj --- One among the few whose films were recognised as a Director's film. Best in screenplay. An intersting actor too. The way he
approaches the subject were always wonderful.

6. Rajinikanth --- Another Trend setter. When those with conventional looks were ruling tamil cinema, changed the course. An attractive and
magnetic personality of Tamil cinema. I would say Rajinikanth also will fit in Top 10 even in terms of achievements.

7. Kavignar Vaali --- This choice may be a surprise. Definetly i like Kannadasan and Vairamuthu. But i admire him because his lyrics were
suitable for differnt generation people. From philosophy to stupidity he can write about anything.

8. SP Balasubramaniam -- The one whose voice suited many actors of different generations.

9. Cho Ramaswamy -- I love his way of comedy. I would never miss if i get a chance to see his comedy and also his writings. He is one of the most
talented. Head levelled. Never talks anything in a hurry.

10. Manorama --- As mentioned by several Cine persons, She is definetly a Lady Shivaji Ganesn. The only female artist who made impact with
different generation people.


Saying this, there are more to be included in my favorites. However limiting to 10 for the sake of the title.

For the past 25+ years, he is THE only actor who sells like a hot cake. After all cinema is a business and RK is THE major contributor as an actor in his generation! (in terms of revenue generated, that is)

exactly. if we are supposed to list top ten with popular names, then we all will probably get the same list. we don't need a thread to voice the obvious ones. as you say it's our top ten, we have our own choice as a Sivaji fan or MGR fan has :) .

Did I say cinema as a medium of business ?? ... I was clearly saying it as an art form, where rajni can't hold a candle to Kamal or others ....
But, yeah, if u look at that as a business , then rajni would def rank in top 10 , ahead of Kamal , next to MGR, Sivaji .....
