As per @dirLingusamy, UV is 80% completed. 15 days of shoot remain it seems.
Mostly confirmed Sept 10 release.
The shoot of veteran actor Kamal Haasan's 'Uttama Villain' is going on without any glitches. The film that is being directed by Ramesh Aravind has been bifurcated into two parts as 21st century and eight century. The 21st century sequences have been wrapped up and the eight century sequences are currently being canned in the grand sets erected in Chennai.
Meanwhile, the film's producer N.Lingusamy who funds the film under his Thiruppathi Brother banner has confirmed in a recent media interaction that 85% of the shooting has been completed and only 15 days of shoot is required. Sources reveal that the shoot will be completed within the end of this month or at the latest by the end of July. It is also said that the plans are on to start the post production work immediately and release the film on September 10.
'Uttama Villain' stars Kamal Haasan in dual roles and the actor has also written the script for the film. The film has a stellar cast that includes veteran directors K.Balachander and K.Viswanath, Andrea, Pooja Kumar, Parvathy Menon, Oorvashi, Jayaram, Nasser and others.

As we all know, the multi talented star Kamal Haasan's upcoming film 'Uttama Villain' is progressing in Chennai and the shoot is nearing completion. Now we have come to know Kamal Haasan the script writer and also the lead hero of the film and the director Ramesh Aravind has planned a scheduled in Europe.
The Europe visit is not connected to shooting of the film but it is for composing the songs. Indiaglitz has acquired exclusive information from a reliable source who said that Kamal, Ramesh Aravind and the film's music composer Ghibran will be leaving to Europe soon to compose the remaining songs of the film. The source also revealed that the young and talented composer has already composed four songs for the film.
When we asked whether the 'Ulaganayagan' will be singing in this Thirrupathi Brothers and Rajkamal Films International production venture, as he has sung at least one song in most of his recent films, the source said that there are bright chances of Kamal continuing his crooning spell with 'Uttama Villain' but nothing has been confirmed about that.
Meanwhile sources reveal that after composing the song 'Uttama Villain' Kamal will sit again with composing session with Ghibran for the songs of 'Viswaroopam II' the magnum opus that is being produced, directed by Kamal Haasan apart from playing the lead role.

i dont think that is written in malayalam. any hubber to thro light on that?
The luscious Pooja Kumar has become a constant in the Kamal Haasan camp as she has already done 3 films with the mega star - with one already released and the other two coming soon.
In Uttama Villain, where she is one among many other actresses in the cast, Pooja seems to be having a very challenging role which is pushing her to the limits. This is what she has to say about her role in UV, directed by Ramesh Arvind and produced by Thirrupathi Brothers.
“I got to play a non-Tamil-speaking modern-day actress, who is offered a character that speaks old, archaic, chaste Tamil. Being a trained dancer, it also gave me an opportunity to do three different dance set-pieces in the film — a commercial number, another one set in an earlier period and then, a dance choreography as part of a stage play. It was challenging to do all these in a single film”
She also had a word about Kamal's role in UV and how we are in for a grand treat from the Ulaganayagan.
“Mr. Kamal Haasan’s part is tricky – one that combines pathos and humor. Those who love his comedy are in for a treat”

K Vishwanath Happy to Appear With K Balachander in Uttama Villain
Ace Telugu filmmaker K Vishwanath, who has always admired films made by K Balachander over the years, says he's extremely happy to be working with him in Tamil comedy Uttama Villain featuring superstar Kamal Haasan.
"In our heyday, Balachander and I always wanted to spend time on each other's film sets. We wanted to learn from each other but it never happened because we were extremely busy back then. I'm glad we are now working together in a film," Vishwanath told IANS.
Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan managed to rope in both the talented filmmakers in Uttama Villain, which is being directed by Ramesh Arvind. (Also Read: Kamal plays double role in the film)
Vishwanath and Balachander have made some brilliant films with Mr Haasan over the years such as Sagara Sangamam, Swati Mutyam, Arangetram, Aval Oru Thodar Kathai and Apoorva Raagangal.
"Kamal convinced us and brought us on board. We enjoyed shooting with actors of this generation," he added.
The film's shooting has almost been wrapped up but for some patch work. It is slated to release in September.

I have always admired the relegious symbolisms in his movies. Its a pure joy to catch it, absorb it and appreciate it. Eventhough I always felt the bgm to be quite aggressive, should watch the movie for the theme before pronouncing anything.
Rendez-vous 10/Sept/2014 ... Nee kalaku nayaga !
The first teaser was a lot better. This one is not so impressive with 90s style VFX & ottu meesai/dhaadi. Hope its only for the teaser. An KB, KV, Oorvasi, MSB, Jayaram - having too many perisugal in the cast, its not going to be easy to attract the younger gen.
Catchy BGM. Was fun to watch ... something different. Optimistic ..
5 Highlights of the Uttama Villain Teaser!
The teaser of Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan's Uttama Villain was released yesterday. It didn't reveal much, but spilled out some stuffs to ponder over.
1. The teaser starts with fans celebrating a cinema, and ends with fans celebrating a hero – the sad state of cinema across the world.
2. Makeovers play a prominent role in Kamal Haasan's movies. They are kept in tight wraps until the release. The teaser shows us the makeovers of all the artists, including the two Kamal Haasan looks.
3. One role of Kamal Haasan, with unkempt hair and beard, might be that of the ancient tribal. It is speculated that Kamal Haasan might play a role of a Theyyam artist.
4. We witness a couple of stars in the Theyyam makeover.
5. The Key (Villain) in the title font of Uttama Villain starts with Kamal Haasan's head – A Masterstroke.

I agree with you on the Teaser part. I was never favourable to it, and often wonder whats the necessity and big deal about it. Teasers are not a welcome change and I personally felt that it any point of time does not create the hype factor but just allows us to assume one. But it does aliment the new born Social Media, which is considered as the only data inventory currently, and creates an illusion of defining stardom with only less than a decade's record blinding the long Cinema Culture History.
Coming back to the UV trailer, oops teaser - thats where the teams great strategy is visible. Kamal had passed and lived up to all the changes in the entertainment world. Now he is masterly using the Social Media. Now just wait and see how many heads are going to shout out Kamal's UV teaser is a rip off of MJ's Balck or White. It will be tagged, re-tagged, forwarded, liked, disliked & whatever : a cost free publicity. Thats how Kamal always survived and will get going more dashingly.
But the actual point to be noted here is that he leaves behind his touch in his works. Not like the one Behindwoods had come up with (wonder what that guy smoked). Right from the opening art work, where the lines making a "M" form stops for a nano second and then forming a shape, was brilliant. And the hand streched Kamal with a ring around his head - the key here is he is showing his back. I cannot eloborate about it more, maybe I will ask the mods if its OK to speak it out as it concerns few relegious symbolisms which will not be weighed the same way by each one of us.
Altogether, I am satisfied with the teaser, and it has certainly made me eagerly wait for the release of the movie, to see what exactly Kamal is trying to unleash here.
tweets saying UV teaser ripped of Nizam Paaku in morphing face technology (that too was a take on MJ's Black and White.)
"Indian" paatla (Kaapileri Poyaachu at the very end between Kamal-Suganya changing getups ) lendhu Shankar panitar. Why this kolaveri now?? :D
Also, I think so called movie goers forgot 10A's end credit sequence (at the very end) where all 10 avatars morph before the film ends.
My only disgust is with Lingusamy. Why the hell do you executive meddle against a KH venture by suddenly pull a teaser from your youtube channel? Is it because of your fear of Anjaan getting sidelined? Or are there behind the scenes drama like Udhaynidhi Stalin meddled with production of 'Manmadhan Ambu'? Totally disgusted.
And KH isn't going to cater to young guys who'd rather see so-called descendents or "Dhanush-lite" heroes give aracha maavu type ventures. They can (and will always) see it at their will. No one is stopping them. Let KV Anand, Saangar cement, take care of young aaadience. Definetly families can enjoy this (especially overseas audience.)
Why was the teaser pulled out???????
Is it true that the producers rolled out the trailer of both Anjaan and this at the same awards nite?
Also, isn't this a co-production meaning can Tirupathi brothers alone take the call on pulling something off the digital medium??
As for the Nizam pakku ad comparison, can only :)
Social media is a double edged sword, comparisons get done between things the creator would not even have imagined.Bouquets and brick bats are to be expected. But am curious why the teaser was designed the way it is or is it was?
What was the thought behind opening the scene with fans screaming at the visuals on the screen, then everybody morphing saying Uttama Villan and then ending it with the shot of fans screaming for a hero.
Am sure, this teaser was done by design though it looks very random and incoherent.
Of course, this will fail to appease a crowd which is used to frantically edited teasers looking COOL which are way off the disasters most of these films eventually turn out to be but Kamal/RA would have known isn't it but they have still gone ahead.
good teaser .. KB nadikkiraar.. nalla padamaa thaan irukkum ..
yes, this is not a big budget movie.. nor it is a stylish next gen movie .. so, it doesnt make any sense to unnecessary expectations..
I'm told that UV teaser was not telecast during awards night due to Kamal's leg pain.
Yes I agree teaser does not convey what movie is about, but this is teaser. Teaserum trailer bayangara vithyasama irruku so we can expect (hopefully) much better trailer, but still wondering if there's any problem between Lingu and Kamal since teaser was taken down.
I'm fed up of these idiots claiming ithu vecha copy, ee aadicha copy, but when so-called actors or directors like dankar releases teaser/trailer of lifted concepts, ellarom aaaha oooho sound kudupan.
kamal's head is rounded by V' of villain. so the current generation kamal is playing as 'uthama' villain ?
