Great that the movie's releasing soon...Was actually surprised that they went ahead with the release in such short notice...Knowing Kamal's infamous reputation of failing to meet with release dates (not his fault, but it's a general occurrence for his films to be delayed by some reason or the other), I thought this would follow suit. And looking at the new trailer and the released video song, I think this one could be on par with the original. And the songs are pretty good too. Ghibran continues to provide good music and his consistency in doing that has to be commended.

Very good decision. Movie will open well in US as it is a long weekend here. Schools are closed and long weekend begins from 2nd July in many places. So if they release a day in advance as they normally would do, a good opening is guaranteed. But since this is a smaller movie when compared to Kamal's earlier releases and considering the fact that non-Tamils will not be interested in watching it, I'm not sure how big that opening is going to be.Quote:

Kamal Haasan’s Papanasam has got a clean ‘U’ from censor board which ensures better chance for the team to get tax exemption from the Tamil Nadu government.
The team has also announced that the film will be releasing on July 3rd and they have already kick started the promotions in various TV channels.
Papanasam is a remake of Malayalam film Drishyam which is also being remade in Hindi with Ajay Devgn in the lead.
Interestingly, Reliance Entertainment has bought Papanasam’s North India distribution rights and they will be releasing the film with English Subtitles.
Reports say that the Hindi version of Drishyam will be releasing only on July 31st hence Papanasam will have an advantage in the trade belts of North India.
My mom comments aft watching papanasam song in sun music...intha mathiri kamal ha parthu yevalo naal aachu vasoolraja ku apuram yentha padamum puriyala and she desperately want to see the movie...i think this movie scores big with family audience...remember kamal's family audience is huge but after vasool raja no film of kamal satisfies family audience completely

Kamal have two set of audience one who loves his experimental movies and another who loves movies lik panchathadiram,vasool raja etc...kamal have to balance it but aft vasoolraja he completely went to experimental mode which worries 2nd type audiences big time

This is a very common complaint from people in TN on KH movies (may be in other places also). This was also heard again for UV very much. It is not that nothing is understandable but certain aspects within a movie comes in the way and the emotional connect between the audience and the movie is broken (for majority of the people). This is the biggest hurdle to achieve BO success besides repeated delays during release time.Quote:

Paramu, Even Praboo's post was almost the same meaning of yours.. Family audience does not normally count as any particular actor's fans. That segment normally watch movies in theaters after a week or so if the WOM is good. In fact Praboo did not compare that numbers with any other hero..Quote:
