Slowly but surely these wonderful proverbs will become outdated and will no longer be a part of the living Tamizh,I mean the Tamizh that is generally spoken and accepted as modern. All along I was thinking that I was speaking in Thanjavur dialect. I got an opportunity to visit my native place recently. Reality hit me hard in the face when I realized how markedly different my dialect was from theirs. When I was in college my friend and I took it as a challenge to converse entirely in Tamizh for a day. But we failed. We found it so hard to speak without interspersing it with English words . Sad state of affairs. Naan en ivalavu varutha padranaa namba nakarikam panpadu ellam methuva mella mella azhiyuthu. A case in my point.
