I was thinking of this MD who shares initials with a famous singer. One of his more famous songs in tamil involves a wooden hero who begot an equally talentless son. Both of them had brief success in their times. The song also involves a popular heroine from the original language of the MD, who later married a hero from the same industry. The hero also debuted in Tamil, and had a few solo movies to his credit besides occasional forays as charatter actor.
