The Greatest Indian Epic - Mahabharath

I have the same doubt that Nakeeran had. What I read in Rajaji's Mahabharatha is:

Yudistra did lie. considering the circumstances and other things, It was indeed a lie. Rajaji says that due to this, the Charriot of Dharma which always maintains a bit of height from the soil without touching it, touched the soil since Dharma himself committed the mistake. Earlier it was maintaining that height just to save the pure soul or Dharma from the sins of the soil. (Soure: Rajaji)

Because of this, When Dharma goes to the heaven, he was made to see the hell sometime for that mistake :D

I really Dont think Yudhistra lied, I remember in the Tents where the Pandavas rest during night time, in Gurshestra. Krishna will tellthe matter prior to facing Dronarchayra on the next day to lie about this Incident, Yudishtra will Fume over this and will never agree, and he never lies on the batlle field at all!

Raghu machi ! I am not sure about this. But I am sure that I read about the landing of his car in the soil when he utters this. But not sure whether this was the same with the sanskrit version too. :roll:

Yes Mr Selva is correct. Yudhishtra's Ratha-wheels never used to touch the GROUND...

... but used to move at a little higher level from the ground.

That was the phenomenal Recognition offered by Dharma-devatha to Dharmaputhra for his strict adherence to utter truth only.

But immediately after he said..."Aswathdhaama hathaha Kunjaraha" ... A CONCEALED LIE... Deceptive Truth...

...his Chariot-wheels dropped down to the ground... says Vyasa in Mahabharatha.

So to say... it is a Symbolic indication... that although logically Dharma's uttereance was not a Lie...

...Dharma-devatha treated it as a lie, since it was aimed at Drona, who got cheated by this statement from an acclaimed Truth follower.

However Lord Krishna played it so... to make the world know of the due Life- code during such sick circumstances.

The proper Confronting-strategy against Cunningness or Cheating by taking undue Advantage of a Noble might by an Enemy...

...is only TACT... conforming to REALITY... based on INDIRECT TRUTH ...

...which is Contrary to DIRECT TRUTH... since deceptive and suicidal by its Negative Result.... defeating Rihgteousness.

Thus it conforms to Valhlhuvar....

Poymaiyum Vaiymai idaththa
Purhai theerndha Nanmai payakkum yenin.

Reality fetches... PURHAI THEERNDHA NANMAI

One fact however is that whenever the Pandavas reach a stage where they didnt have any solution to overcome their rivals, they have resorted to deceit & breaking the war rules
I will not get into the nitigrity of whether the Gauravas followed th e war rules as they were expected to follow their original behavioural pattern but not the same kind of attitude by the Pandvas as they are know for following dharma

Mahabharatha relates to the previous era of Dwapara-Yuga...prior to the present Kaliyuga.

In those yugas...Bows and arrows and Sasthras were used as Weapons which were driven by chanting MANTHRAS.

For those who are able to understand and believe such a totally different state of affairs... of MANTHRA-AGE then...

...the Events of Flying-Chariot or Hiding-Sun or the like.. will not appear FUNNY or INCREDIBLE...

But for others who are unable to imagine beyond the present SCIENTIFIC AGE formula ...

...it can neither be perceived nor they can be convinced.

However let such people take Mahabharatha as a Mythology....or a Cock & Bull Story

But the RICH LESSONS and the high HUMAN MORALS inherent behind.... are INVALUABLE... and UNPARALLEL.

... invariably APPLICABLE even for the present MODERN days.. of SCIENTIFIC AGE.
