For Malaysians alone,
Astro Vellithirai is showing old SPM/Rajini films, and apart from usual suspects, we have Bhuvana Oru Kelvikuri, a hard-to-see-on-TV film. I haven't seen it for decades. Don't miss it.
Thanks for the pix, Vasudevan-sir

For strange reason, Rajini's name is Rajini in this movie. I forgot what Kamal's character was named.
very kind of you hamid sir. Thanks again.
VASUDEVAN
groucho sir,
Kamal's name is Madhan in aadu puli attam.
Grouch.. it is Madan I believe..
Rajini Style Vs Madhan Style.. remember the scene where Kamal will throw the garland into Rajini's(who is standing behind) shoulders and says "Ithaanda Madhan Style"
//digg.. There is some problem in posting.. The editor doesnt open also I cant quote and respond.. :(
Thanks Vasudevan sir. Yes, Hamid I remember that now. Try re-releasing this movie now, riot-thAn.
No Grouch..Thats not a movie which will engage anybody.. the plot or the execution was poor in myopinion and was sort of borign movie..
re-releases... there was a lot of talk in Kamal thread.. movies where Rajini and Kamal acted as friends can be a a good pick for re-release now.. Ilamai Oonjalaadukirathu is a good one... Ninaithaale Inikkum etc etc...
Grouch. dont miss Bhuvana oru Kelvikuri.. one of my fav movie and characterisation of Rajini.. watch it and let us know of your views...
Hamid, riot-nu sonnathu, fight among fans. Rajini fans would totally go berserk when Kamal's character addresses his antagonist as Rajini and beating him up . Of course, the abovementioned films are rereleasable, especially the fun NI. I am definitely not missing BOK, need to check when they are playing it, and hope the print they are using is good.
Vasudevan sir, thanks for all the photo's keep up the good work :)
Dear groucho sir,
Mikka Nandri.
Dear Paramashivan sir,
Thanks a lot.
Vasudevan.
Re-release aa? Innum field-la namma dhaanE #1
Btw, ninaththaalE inikkum, excellent contender. Delightful film with cultest songs

Only Rajni can do that!
The Tamil film ‘3’, produced and directed by Rajnikanth’s daughter Aishwarya and starring his son-in-law Dhanush, was also dubbed
in Telugu by the distributors in Andhra Pradesh. However, despite the super hit song Kolaveri Di, the film was a flop in both Tamil and Telugu.
One distributor from Andhra Pradesh was so worried by the loss that he landed up in a hospital. However, the kind-hearted man that Rajnikanth is, he visited him in the hospital and assured him that he would bear the losses.
Apparently, he did the same when Baba released and resulted in a loss of Rs 19 crore to the distributors. Well, that’s Rajni for you.
What a funny!

Nerd, Grouch,
Yes.. NI is a good movie for re-release.. But that has been telecasted multiple times and would have seen by all..whereas Ilamai Oonjalaadukirathu is also a very good movie which is not stelecasted much.. Kamal and Rajini will be friends for major part whereas they will be against each other for a while..good comedy too ( better butter etc) it has all the ingredients to be a big hit than NI :)
Hah! This gives rise to a nice debate.
NI vs IU
Music: NI gets more mark (IR fans, stay back).
Performance: Equal, but Rajini was better in NI than IU, though bigger in IU.
romAns: Equal, but IU has more quotient.
Humour: NI, no doubt. "Better butter" can't beat "toyoto car" or "anbarE..."
pathos: NI. Cancer, that's it.
Friendship factor: Fans will be comfortable with NI, than the tension between the two in IU.
Direction: KB gets the cake.
Overall production quality: NI because it was shot in Malaysia and Singapore danggit!
your turn Hamid.
//ha.. again.. cant quote.. even posting window doesnt get loaded :( //
Grouch,
you are comparing both the films.. As I said before the most important factor is the number of people who would come and see the movie in theater... almost everybody would have seen NI multiple times and may not be excited about it..
whereas IU is a movie which will trigger much more interest if advertised properly with right scenes in the trailer.. ( closeness, enemity, humour, pathos etc)...on that regard I felt IU is a better candidate for re-release.
anyway now we have stepped into comparison.. let me give it a try.. havent seen both movies in any recent times.. but fondly remember watching and loved Murali when I saw it a year or two before.. was thinking how did I miss this movie so far?
//Music: NI gets more mark (IR fans, stay back).//
No.. even if, then the margin will be too close.. Thanni karuthiruchu and vaartahi thavari vittai are too good for any competition and for different genre...
//Performance: Equal, but Rajini was better in NI than IU, though bigger in IU. //
hmm arguable.. I would say Rajini is definitely better and majestic in IU. Kamal is bit better in NI.
//romAns: Equal, but IU has more quotient. //
Yes.. IU wins this hands down.. somehow never felt good about the romance track in NI.. ennathaanda nadakkuthu feel irunthukitte irukkum. Here Sripriya is good :|
//Humour: NI, no doubt. "Better butter" can't beat "toyoto car" or "anbarE..." //
Yep.. cant say anything on this regard.
//pathos: NI. Cancer, that's it.//
No.. The pain of losign Sivapriya and also see his close friend gets close to her.. the song.. Vaarthai thavari vittai.. the pathos in IU connects to more than NI..
//Friendship factor: Fans will be comfortable with NI, than the tension between the two in IU. //
NO.. they would love to see a bit of fight too.. though at the start and by the end they become
close freinds and all is well...
//Direction: KB gets the cake. //
I dont even remember who directed IU.. but it has the perfect mix of all emotions and the present day movie goers will love this and will be pleasantly surprised to watch this movie.
//Overall production quality: NI because it was shot in Malaysia and Singapore danggit!//
hmm.. think I will agree.
Hamid, IU also jambAvan directing. It was Sridhar, one of his last few good films. By the way, good points, hope other come in and give their 25 rupees....Innonnu category pOtturukkanum - Moral. IU will be bruised :lol2:
first time in net 'nandooruthu nariyooruthu' (video) (clear print) uploaded by me.

Thanks Vasudevan-sir. Though TMS somehow does not suit Rajini (the other songs), here he was okay, very sad song indeed.
//Hamid, IU also jambAvan directing. It was Sridhar, one of his last few good films.
Thanks of the info Grouch..
//By the way, good points, hope other come in and give their 25 rupees....//
:) aana ivalothaan aunga reaction.. I thought you are going to discuss further :|
//Innonnu category pOtturukkanum - Moral. IU will be bruised //
Yes.. but which one does attract more audience :noteeth: ?
More discussion-A, hmm...
Okay, my further reasoning on why NI will attract more crowd.
1. Enggeyum Eppothum alone. It resurged in popularity recently thanks to the remix (or cover, or whatever hell it is) by Yuvan.
2. NI more colourful. More youth-centric, though it is antha-kAlattu youth.
3. Rajini is hillarious, spontaneous hilarity.
4. Speaking of which, the film goes from comedy, to song, to romans, back to comedy. Don't know why it didn't do well then, I thought it was a perfect entertainer.
5. Kamal at his most youthful, Jaya Pradha at her most...okay Sagar Sangamam...well, she was beautiful here too.
6. The other band members too had their own share of comedy.
7. One of the best ever music form MSV.
Why IU will not attract that much crowd.
1. Ennadi meenakshi may suffer from rebuttall from many with that name. Some who sang may even have experience sexual harassment/eve teasing suit. Not helped by Kamal doing Elvis.
2. Frankly, Rajini may have been stylish, but not a memorable role. Betty bought a bitter butter ulpada.
3. No seriously, hardly nay laugh out loud comedy.
4. Taneer karuthiduchu may have been raunchy back then, but now it looks like mating rituals of a water buffalo
5. Rajini/Kamal fight scene looked as sincere as a brawl by a pair of poodles.
6. Jeyachitra
7. Sripriya
8. anti-YGM movement may be alarmed of his father's presence, plus violent protest by Jayakanthan fans.
9. It feels very long.
10. Actually I like this movie, but NI-kAga itha promote panna mAttEn
I have seen parts of IU on Raj TV. The print was very bad with several cuts & jumps. Re-release will be a tough task.
Grouch, hilarious comparison post  One small nitpick - the remix was by GVP, not Yuvar.
IU muzhusaa (orE sitting-la) paarththadhE illai
