'Kaththi' Box Office Collections: Can Vijay Starrer Score Fastest 50?
The star power of Ilayathalapathy Vijay is on a display with his latest movie "Kaththi" doing a roaring business at the Box Office. The Tamil film has made amazingly brilliant business at the collection centres worldwide on the first and second day.
The response for the movie in the first two days clearly shows the sign of "Kaththi" breaking several records at the Box Office. On the opening day, the Tamil film has earned ₹ 16.45 crores in India alone and additional ₹ 7 crores from international circuits. As per the makers of the film, it has nearly made ₹ 23.80 crores worldwide.
On the second day, the early trends say that "Kaththi" has repeated the same and the film comes very close to reach the 50-crore mark at the Box Office. Even if only Indian Box Office collection is taken into the account, the film has easily crossed ₹ 30-crore mark.
There is a strong possibility of "Kaththi" registering its name in the elite ₹ 50-crore mark by Saturday (October 25). The traders have crossed their fingers and curiously looking forward to see how the Tamil movie will perform in the coming days.
If Vijay's film reaches the mark as predicted by the industry trackers, it will be a new feather in the Ilayathalapathy's cap. Earlier, Rajinikanth's "Enthiran" had got such a warm reception.
The combined collection of three languages (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi) of "Enthiran" had helped the film reach the 50-crores in just three days. However, Vijay's "Kaththi" collection is released in one language and if reached 50-crore by October 25, it will be a rare milestone for the actor.
"Kaththi", which is an action-thriller movie, features Vijay, Samantha and Neil Nitin Mukesh in the key roles. The film is directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Lyca Productions.

Review - Kaththi (2014)
The movie opens in a Central Jail in Kolkata. A convict has escaped and the Police seek the help of another convict - Kathiresan aka Kaththi (Vijay), to nab the escaping criminal. While helping the Police capture the former, Kathiresan himself escapes and comes to Chennai. After hooking up with a fellow criminal Ravi (Sathish), Kathiresan plans to escape to Bangkok. At the airport he meets Avanthika (Samantha) and it is love at first sight, so Kathiresan drops his plans of flying abroad. Late in the night, Kathiresan is walking with Ravi when the duo witness a person being shot at by a gang of rowdies. On closer inspection, they find that the guy who has been shot is an exact replica of Kathiresan. Wanting to escape from the Kolkata Police, Kathiresan assumes the identity of the injured Jeevanandham (Vijay) and plans on escaping to Bangkok again. The events happening around Kathiresan show to him that Jeevanandham is actually in the midst of a major legal battle between a huge multi-national and his village farmers. Initially, Kathiresan plans to make money from this conflict and escape with it.
It is at this juncture that being mistaken for Jeeva, Kathiresan is invited to an event where he is to be conferred with an award. Before getting the award, a video clipping on who Jeeva is, is played to all the people gathered at the event. Watching this video changes Kathiresan's life completely. Meanwhile, being mistaken for Kathiresan, the injured Jeeva is arrested by the Kolkata Police and taken to prison. Who is Jeeva? Why is he being selected for an award? How does Kathiresan's life change? The Multi-National Corporation's owner Chirag (Neil Nithin Mukesh) is using his vast wealth and power to target something. What is it? To know the answers to all these questions, watch Kaththi on the big screens.
Director AR Murugadoss is back to directing Vijay again, after their successful Thuppakki. The subject matter that he has handled is a very sensitive one and is the need of the hour. The statistics and the data and the enormity of the issue needs to be noticed by the people. After a steady first half, the screenplay becomes racy in the second half and gathers steam before blasting in the end. Vijay is classy and has differentiated very well between the two roles he has played - Jeeva and Kathir. Samantha is pretty and has scope to perform in the movie. Sathish has done a good job. Neil Nithin Mukesh, as the stylish, suave and cunning business magnate, looks perfect for the part. Anirudh's music is peppy and the BGM keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats. Sreekar Prasad's editing is top notch, as is the cinematography by George C. Williams.

Kaththi collects Dh9.24 million on release day
Vijay-starrer Tamil action film Kaththi has collected a whopping Rs154 million (Dh9.24 million) on the first day in the country. It’s expected to register a record opening weekend at the box office, says an expert.
The movie released in India Wednesday.
“Braving all the controversy and low-key promotions, Kaththi has registered Rs154 million at the ticket window on release day in the country. The numbers are phenomenal and the film is expected to set new opening weekend box office record,” trade analyst Trinath said.
Directed by AR Murugadoss, Kaththi is about a crook who turns a messiah when witnesses the plight of farmers.

first let me start with AR Murugadoss.. :clap:
i liked most of his films.. 7am Arivu is his sarukkal... other than this each one has a great effect on the lead actors..
Dheena - start of rowdy heroes & after this Ajith is Thala
Ramana - a true directors film.. made almost everyone to watch a Vijayakanth film after long time
Ghajini - showed a different surya.. much needed super hit for surya after kakha kakha.. & ARM took this to hindi with Aamir Khan..
Thuppaki - a kind of stylish vijay in a interesting screenplay with less punch dialogues which was lacking in most of Vijay's action films
Kaththi - same effect as Ramana.. will make most people to watch Vijay film & go on to appreciate it to an extent..

- fans will be loving whole of the film.. it has stylish moments & performance & some powerful dialogues..
- stylish is mostly in fights.. the slo-mo's are used effectively .. i liked the one with reporters .. jumping & sitting over the sofa
- coin fight is good thinking (hope all are well thought by kaththi team & not from other films)
- intervel i'm waiting.. for fans..
- if coin fight is not shown, as reported, u don't understand the last scene
- press meet dialogues.. ARM :clap: similar to Ramana last scene dialogues..
- double role in script helped only for press meet scene..
- & double role doesn't mean that one should be tall & other should be short (contrasting physique).. only their inner character should be different like enga veetu pillai MGR.. people mostly expect double role means one with beard & other without.. etc.
- eventhough people made fun of vijay in social media & within their friend circle.. I don't think anyone among his contemporaries have pulled this film like vijay
- every vijay fan can proudly say kaththi is his best & not ghilli or pokkiri.. always a original film values more than a remake.. IMO..

Vijay looked very energetic throughout the movie, i think that is just a sign of how much they knew this movie will click with audience.
There is no one close to him in dancing in tamil cinema! Pakkam vanthu and aathi just proves that.
