Vishwaroopam, on the whole, is certainly not a feel good movie. Kamal himself would admit it. And its rated U/A. Thats probably why he cleverly made the first 15 mins family-friendly. Even now, many of my friends would say they liked the first half (till Transformation) more than the 2nd.
Vishwanathan+the Stunt :: Vishwaroopam = Balram Naidu :: Dasavatharam, in terms of mass appeal, repeat audience & feel good factor.
The concept is dark and idea was to portray the cruelties as is. Scenes like children sacrificing their happiness, women being slaved were meant to be disturbing. But IMO, the other RKFI movies - Kurudhippunal, Mahanadhi, Hey Ram handled the respective issues in a much more serious and disturbing manner than Vishwaroopam, probably because the protagonist hasnt lost any dear ones yet . I was more depressed even with movies like Sathya and Virumandi.

A shooting spot still..
hi rachel, welcome to this thread. u have touched the main diff between KH and RK. many movie goers say they would just want 2 and half hour entertainment and nothing else..which is the feel-good factor. that is provided by RK in abundance without caring about logic (with due respect to him) but KH calls "spade a spade" which sometimes disturbing to watch but thats what good cinema is all about.
Unamai Vilambi,
The query on hand was quite simple - A viewer found some scenes, situation or even a whole sub plot disturbing. Keeping in mind the certification, its quite normal. Now, where does that give an opportunity to bring in RK to convenience a particular viewer ?
Nope.. its a feel good movie. If good wins against the bad or trying to win against bad, its a feel good movie.
How do you know?
So what? How it matters for the public who watches that movie? Everyone whole hearted accept that movie.
Sweeping statement by means of comparison. Not at all needed. We need to pick same level of genre films for comparison.
yeah..u r right... good point...some people like or enjoy sad or disturbing or depressing movies and they call them good entertainment.
other people enjoy 'happy ending' or comedy or mindless action movies and call them good entertainment.
you are category one. i am category two.
ohh. venkkiram, what about this?
it's not suitable for younger audience. what do you say about this?
i think the film even starts with married girl talking about seeing other guy?????? right
