Few more sivaji movies produced by AVM
Pachai ViLakkau is one of them.
Even ,Nadigar thilagam's first movie Parasakthi produced by AVM
Actually "parasakthi's co -producer was AVM, the original producer was mr.P.A.Perumal of national pictures a strong periyar follower.he also produced Ratha kanneer. Nadigar thilakam(NT) and his family to this day visit the perumal household once a year pongal or april 14th and give some sarees etc to mrs.perumal.AVM were to fund the project and moved in assisting with studio/equipment/technicians etc.Ultimately they had to step in to finish the picture.....started shooting in the second half of 1950 and released for deepavali 1952.Imagine the mental agony of NT...waiting for his first picture.....in his biography he refers to the struggle. In private once told me.....dey...mohan....avm lla oru oru shooting floorikku naduvala maram ellam irrukumey parthirukaraya......athu ellam valarnthathu chettiar alunga oothina thaneerla illai....intha ganesan kaneerla...."AVM also produced his 125th film uyarntha manithan, yes antha naal produced by AVM and directed by VEENA virtuoso S.Balachandar.......a musician makes a songless film, inspired by the Kurosawa classic "Rashoman".
Mohanram sir ... nijamaavae avaroda uzhaippu yellavatraiyum thaandi nirkkum
can u explain this sir ? am not able to get his implicit meaning !Quote:
alunga oothina thaneerla illai....intha ganesan kaneerla
Also i envy you :-) u had chances to meet NT, talk to him personally ... :-)
It is not that the trees were watered by AVM's gardners...they were watered by the tears of sivaji......during the making of parasakthi, he had to suffer number of taunts/insults/disappointments etc.In fact once when he was in a corner crying because someone was critical of him, it was mr. krishnan (of krishnan-panchu) who came and told him not to cry and that one day all 'these fellows" will line up in front of you for a callsheet....N T had tremendous regard for krishnan and called him "deivam" -page 89 of his autobiography. We know him as "simhakuralon" and during Parasakthi people in the sound engineering dept. said why is he neighing like a horse...Kutharai mathiri kanaikiraan......Ironical isn't it.As they felt he was thin they wanted to fatten him up and you can see him in parasakthi in various sizes and shapes......they shot 7000 feet and then scrapped the film.....then it was reshot later after a lot of discussion and debate on the 'hero"..the only portion in the film from the first lot was his searching the streets of madras....shot by the original cameraman and not maruthi rao who worked on the reshoot.People like perumal mudaliar, krishnan etc stood by him and when avm asked perumal to reconsider and whether they should use an established actor like K R Ramaswamy, it was vetoed by mudaliar who said that if he does the film it will be with ganesan....no wonder he called these people his 'deivams".

I got a VCD ,recording of the function 'ImayathiRku Inthiya Anjali' conducted by raj TV..In thae VCD there is a program by Y.G.mahendra ,he presented few famous nadigar thilagam scenes in a comical way followed by original scene ..In Kattabomman scene ,you are the one acted as kattabomman ,and you (kattabomman) talked like a hero of manirathnam movie (with single word reply)..That was holorious..I enjoyed a lot your performance .."kodukkamattan..pommu..kodukkamattan" ha ha ha..
I heard even AV Meyyappa chettiyar was not happy with ganesan as a hero of Parasakthi since he didn't want to take risk with a new face that too very slim ,with unusual dialogue modulation at that time .
But after few years the same AV Meyyapa chettiyar said that Sivaji ganesan is undoubtfully the world's best actor.
