Heard news KH is remaking Drishyam Malayalam movie. The movie was excellent and mohanlal gave splendid performance. but KH need not go for remake of hit movies. you cant avoid comparison with original. many gave thums up to nasruddin shah for Wednesday rather than KH for UPO.

Today, February 7, marks 1 year since the theatrical release of Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam in Tamil Nadu. The film, as we know, had a delayed release in Tamil Nadu due to some political controversies surrounding the film's content and there was a major furor in the state about this issue. Kamal Haasan went to the extent of saying that he would leave Tamil Nadu and move to some other secular state in the country.
The film overcame all these obstacles and released in the state finally, to a massive response at the box-office. Vishwaroopam was among the Top 3 highest grossers in Tamil last year and the curiosity about the film and its entertaining screenplay made sure that most of the people of TN saw the movie atleast once.
Behindwoods remembers this remarkable one year journey of Vishwaroopam, a movie which will always remain in memory for being a never-seen-before experience. The scale and canvas of the movie are something which can be matched only by its sequel which gets ready for release, sometime in the coming months.

Seems like looking at the trend, any big budget KH movie like VR, VR-2, Dasa etc. takes about 1.5 yrs. Smaller, midsize ones like UPO, VasoolRaja seems to take about 1/2 that time. I'm guessing uttama-villain, drishyam(tamil version) would probably be quicker. We could get lucky to see 2 movies from him in next 1.5 yrs .... i mean after VR-2 release.

hey that was an awesome piece to read - An 'outsider' perspective on KH and all the nuances involved in making of the movie .. Interestingly some frank comments on how the FBI is stereotyped as sort of dumb and don't know whats going on. Happens everywhere.Quote:

'Viswaroopam 2' release date
Kamalhassan's magnum opus Viswaroopam 2 was expected to hit the screens in January but the magnitude of the film is so high that the shooting itself has not yet been completed. There were talks doing rounds that the Padma Bhushan actor will bring his sequel to the 2013 blockbuster film as a Tamil New Year treat but the announcement on the release of Superstar Rajnikanth's Kochadiiyaan has proved that V-2 will be pushed further since the distributors may not be preferring a clash of the two veteran actors cum leading stars of Tamil film industry.
Now sources say that Viswaroopam 2 will release either on May 2 or May 9 after a decent gap from the release of Kochadiiyaan.
Kamlahassan who is also the director of Viswaroopam 2 has assured that the film will be racier and the script provides more scope for romance and action, than its prequel. Pooja Kumar , Andrea Shekar Kapur and Rahul Bose who acted in Viswaroopam are retained in the sequel. Music has been scored by Ghibran and Shamdat Sainudeen is the cinematographer. The film is being produced by Ascar V.Ravichandran.
