Urumi shooting completed

South India's bankable hero Prithviraj's Urumi, directed by India’s most proficient cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Santosh Sivan in Tamil, Hindi, English and Malayalam, has completed its shooting schedule recently. "Its a schedule wrap for Urumi. What a fantastic couple of months its been. What a crew, what a film maker and what a film! Cheers to us!" Prithviraj tweeted.

According to Prithviraj, the climax scene is the most massive in Mollywood till now. Starring Tabu, Prabhu Deva and Genelia in pivotal roles, Urumi is based on the attempted assassination of Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama, who arrived in Kappad near Calicut, on May 20, 1498. The film is about a group of men who plotted to kill the famous explorer Vasco Da Gama for his cruel deeds.

STR'S YOUTHFUL LYRICS FOR VAANAM

STR is very particular about the quality of songs in his movies and he always turns to Yuvan for weaving magic. And they have never disappointed, the more recent example being Silambattam. The highlight of the music album of STR’s next movie Vaanam will be a song which has lyrics by both Yuvan and STR. Yes! The song which starts "Evandi unna pethan pethan... kaila kedacha sethan sethan...", has been sung by none other than STR himself. Sources inform that this song will definitely strike the right chord with the audience.

Yuvan has also planned to release a song of Vaanam as a teaser for the album. Speculations are that the song may be released for Diwali. Get ready folks!

கமலின் மருதநாயகத்தை தயாரிக்கிறார் ஆஸ்கர் ரவிச்சந்திரன்?

கமல் ஹாஸனின் மருதநாயகம் படத்தை ஆஸ்கர் ரவிச்சந்திரன் தயாரிப்பார் என்று செய்திகள் வெளியாகத் துவங்கியுள்ளன.

கமல் நடித்த தசாவதாரம் படத்தைத் தயாரித்தவர் ரவிச்சந்திரன். இந்தப் படத்தின் மூலம் அவர் தனது பேனர் பெயரான Oscar என்பதை Aaskar என்று மாற்றிக் கொள்ள வேண்டி வந்தது. Oscar Academy-ன் எதிர்ப்பு காரணமாக இந்த மாற்றத்தை அவர் செய்யவேண்டியிருந்தது.

அதன் பிறகு படத்தின் பிஆர்ஓ உள்ளிட்ட பல விவகாரங்களில் கமலுக்கும் ரவிச்சந்திரனுக்கும் ஏழாம் பொருத்தமாகிவிட, கமல் கடைசி நேரத்தில் தசாவதாரம் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட எந்த நிகழ்விலும் பங்கேற்காமல் தவிர்த்தார்.

RAJINI'S DRAVIDIAN MOVIE

The success meet of Mynaa was held at the Park Sheraton Hotel in Chennai today. The cast and crew were all present at this function. Udhayanidhi Stalin, under whose production banner the movie was released, spoke highly about the movie. He said that the movie was released with 160 prints initially but owing to popular demand, 40 more prints have been developed. "Due to outstanding public response, theatres are now showing 4 shows of Mynaa instead of two shows", he added.

Director Prabhu Solomon was ecstatic about the film's success. He said that his biggest compliment is when Rajinikanth spoke highly about the movie. He praised Thambi Ramaiyya's role in the movie and was fully in appreciation for the actor.

Rajini's letter

Rajini has sent a signed letter to the director of Mynaa Prabhu Solomon. He has mentioned that every man has a beast in his heart. Owing to society and our traditional values, we don't let others to see it from close. But it so happens that the beast unleashes itself in certain circumstances which is beyond the control of human mind. Since I have lived and grown among those kind of people in the society during my early days, I can easily relate myself with the movie. "I could see those characters I have confronted in my life in Mynaa", he has mentioned.

Praising the efforts of actors, he said that each actor and actress in the movie has done a brilliant job which is the evident in this movie. The highlight of the letter is when he mentions "Mynaa is a Dravidian movie. This movie is for every citizen of Tamil Nadu". These kind of movies are a rarity in Tamil cinema. It is like "Kurunji Malar", he feels.

About the crew, he states that Prabhu Solomon has done a very commendable job in directing this movie. Sukumar's camera ensures that the movie is real and not otherwise. The cinematography is a visual treat. D Imman's music complements the movie's intentions very well. He praised the efforts of all crew members, including Thambi Ramaiyya, and said that they have given a visual feast to the audience. Rajini also appreciated the efforts of Shalom studios, AGS and Udhayanidhi Stalin to make this movie a success.

Rajini's only regret, after watching Mynaa, is that he could not act in the movie. "I would have been happy if I had acted in a few scenes in Mynaa", he concludes.

GV PRAKASH’S AADUKALAM SURPRISE

Dhanush-starrer Aadukalam is one of the next big releases in Kollywood. Directed by Vetrimaran, of Pollathavan fame, Aadukalam's heroine is Taapsee Pannu. The music of this movie has been scored by GV Prakash Kumar and the audio launch of the movie will be held in Chennai on November 10, 2010.

GV Prakash had earlier hinted that there would be a surprise element in the audio launch. Now it is being rumoured that he is going to dance for a song Yathe Yathe during the audio release. This will definitely evoke a lot of curiosity with his fans!

SURIYA IS A VOLCANO: RGV

The US theatrical rights of Ratha Charithram have been acquired by the GK Media LLC. The film, which deals with gang war, is directed by Ram Gopal Varma. It has Suriya, Vivek Oberoi and Priyamani in lead roles. The first part of Raktha Charithra (Telugu and Hindi) turned out to be =hit and with Suriya dominating in part 2, it has created a lot of expectations among the Tamil audiences.

Speaking about Suriya, RGV said, “Suriya has donned the role of Suri, who takes up arms for settling scores with his enemies. I have great regard for Suriya. Working with him has been a delightful experience. He has the intensity of a volcano. He is capable of doing any kind of role.”

The film will be released worldwide on November 26th, 2010.

NADIGAR SANGAM RAPS PRABHU DEVA AND NAYAN

In a recent development on the issue of Prabhu Deva and Nayanthara, the Nadigar Sangam has summoned both the actors before the Court on November 23, 2010. It can be recalled that the Court had earlier instructed the Nadigar Sangam to make available both the actors, who did not appear before the judges on October 19, 2010, when the case came up for hearing. Hence, a summon was sent to Mr. Natesan of Nadigar Sangam.

After consulting lawyers, the Sangam has sent court notices to Nayanthara's residence in Kochi and Prabhu Deva's residence in Alwarpet, Chennai, by registered post on Tuesday evening. The actors, who have been avoiding public appearances, were unavailable for comment. The audio release of Prabhu Deva’s directorial venture Engeyum Kaadhal was held in Chennai on Monday.

KAMAL HAASAN APPROVES KKK

Kadamai Kanniyam Kattuppadu is an extravagant creation from the production house of AC Anandan, bringing director Shaji Kailash and actor RK together again after ‘Ellaam Avan Seyal’. The name has been legally procured from the yesteryear movie starring Sathyaraj and Geetha under Kamalhasan’s banner RajKamal Productions. The storyline is worked on Bollywood mega blockbuster ‘Ab tak Chappan’ starring Nana Patekar and the title has been rightfully approved by Kamal Haasan himself.

The story is about a straightforward and honest Police official. Shaji Kailash is known for adventurous and bold attempts on silver screen. This time, V Prabhakar, of Pokkiri fame, handles the script and dialogue. Madhurima, the glamour queen of the Telugu film industry, plays the lead actress and makes her debut in Tamil. Music is by Srikanth Deva and the editing is handled by Shamjadh, assistant of Don Max, who too makes his debut in Kollywood. Production is handled by KS Mayilvahanan.

Vivek will take care of the comedy portions and Rajiv Krishna, of Aaha fame, will play the antagonist in KKK. Shammi Thilakan, son of veteran Malayalam actor Thilakan, will be doing a role as a Police officer. The supporting cast include Radha Ravi, Singam Puli and Yuvarani. KKK is being shot in Chennai, Pondicherry, Goa as well as some overseas locations.
