Though the guitar piece resembles "jingudi jingudi" from guru sishyan, there are too many pluses to this song...
Special rythm for a naughty situation
Some real IR stunners (between 1.02 and 1.27)
Impeccable lyrics with edugai monai in good tamizh (e.g.:"pattada puthaada seraachu...vithaara-kathara naarachu sithaada paavada kuthaala neeroda!!")
Great singing by SPB (e.g.: listen at 2.01 for the pronunciation of the word seerrratti...)
I think the lyrics is by R.V.Udayakumar....
I feel this is the best of IR-R.V.U combo.

This song is one of the most DIVINE compositions of IR. And also by KJY. Every single note in this song is so blissful. This song showcases IR's genius in composing soulful music. What a pristine Masterpiece! Yes, IR has composed many good songs after this, but a Masterpiece to this degree has not been composed by him after that. I rarely see people talking about this song. People keep talking about Andhi Mazhai or Janani Janani. This song too, deserves to be counted among the tallest compositions of Ilaiyaraaja. This is a marvel!
Ragas,
As you said it is indeed a soulful composition from the maestro.Truly a class apart!
Also when people talk of Andhi mazhai they fail to mention about the other song in the same movie which is indeed a masterpiece..
