Sangeetha... super kalakiteenga :D poricha kozhambu ... my favourite :D
Hello, ellaarum epdi irukeenga?
chumma bore adikkudhu oru recipe podalaam :P This one is my favourite recipe from my mom.
She does this on some important viradham days like thai krithgai, thai poosam, like that. (when onion and garlic are not used in cooking).
This taste much much tastier than the ones with onion + garlic.
Kathrikkaai podi kari/Kathirikkai Koththamalli fry:
Brinjal (small or big) - 300 gms
Mustard seeds
Oil
Turmeric
Salt
To powder:
5 or 6 red chillies(adjust for spice) - long red chillies
3/4th tablespoon - coriander seeds
1 tablespoon - channa dal (kadalai paruppu)
1 tablespoon - cocunut shreds
Method:
Okies, first cut brinjal into small cubes (if small brinjal then can cut in vertical slices).
In a wok, dry fry channa dal, red chillies, coriander seeds for about a minute or till channa dal turns slightly orangish.
Keep it side and let it cool down. Grind to coarse powder, add cocunut shreds(for more taste, fry for few secs and add :slurp: ), dont grind more, juz put mixer grinder on pulse mode 3 times.
In a wok, add required oil(add more oil for more taste, use cocunut oil for lipsmacking taste  )
Once oil is hot enuff, add mustard seeds, let it splutter.
Add brinjal slices, fry for 2 mins. Add turmeric powder and salt. Close the lid for 2 mins and then open, fry again for a minute(repeat the process till it gets cooked).
Once brinjal is spongy and kind of in a situation of getting mashed (:lol2: see this is how I check whether it is cooked or not),
add the channa dal + red chillies + coriander seeds + cocunut mix powder to brinjal and give a mix.
Thats it !!! Kathrikkaai koththamalli fry is ready to eat. Enjoy with sambar rice or hot paruppu rasam rice or tempered curd rice. :slurp:
Have fun.

Here is a black bean salad that is simple to make :
1 cup black beans..try organic...wash well & drain.. keep aside.
1 medium clove minced...(u need not use if u dont like garlic)
quarter medium red onion thinly sliced ( really thin )......u have to call me to your home if you dont know how to........just kidding.
1Tblsp parsley ( i do not like parsley so i used corriander leaves - pachai kothamalli )
1/2 Tblsp...lemon juice ( not lime green one )
1 & half Tblsp extra virgin olive oil
salt & pepper......namaku kaaram pidikumnu i used green chilly instead of black pepper. Use less salt as the black bean will have more than hint of salt.
the following is optional can use if u want :
little feta cheese
3 kalamata olives sliced
1/2 tsp rosemary
these will enhance the flavour for sure....unfortunately i do not remember from where I took this recipe from... but I have a feeling from vegetarian times.....this recipe belongs to a person who cares about diet....& thanks to her or him on our behalf....hope this is okay nga nov .
