Google Annan comes up with new 7" Tab
http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/27/g...blet-official/
Google makes the Nexus 7 tablet official Android 41 Jelly Bean and a $199 price
Some of the mystery has been taken out of it, but Google has officially taken the wraps off of the Nexus 7, its first reference-grade tablet. The 7-inch slate is the first and currently only device shipping with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and takes advantage of its optimization for smaller tablet screens, magazines and movies -- it's also the first to ship with a finished Chrome for Android. Like what was widely suspected, the tablet is built by ASUS (shades of Eee Pad MeMO ME370T, anyone?) and mostly draws our attention in terms of what we get for the money: that quad-core Tegra 3, 1.2-megapixel front camera, NFC and 1280 x 800, IPS-based LCD are traits we'd normally look for in a pricier tablet. How much pricier, you ask? Google is asking just $199 for a dainty 8GB model and $249 for a 16GB version -- that's a lot of speed for the money, especially with a $25 Google Play credit and a slew of bundled content. There's no SD card slot, however.

Might buy the Nexus 7 after seeing it in stores, not for me, for my father.
Sakala,
We had this discussion a few weeks ago remember. What does an iPhone do so easily and the same thing in Android is a mess - We have a data plan - 200MB each per month. We both have similar kind of usage (Personal email / News / FB / Twitter etc.). My usage every month is 50 megs and her usage (Android) is close to 200, sometimes even over that causing us to pay extra each month. I still have not figured out why - just downloaded a traffic monitoring app and will let you know how it goes.
But the point is, its extremely easy to turn of polling (for updates every 5 minutes or so for FB/Emails etc.) for ALL the apps on an iPhone. I just go to Settings > Notifications and turn all of them off. But on the S2, I have to open each and every app, go to the homepage of the app sometimes, then tap on the settings, tap again on a couple of buttons to turn that off and I am successful only for that particular app. I have to repeat the same cumbersome process for all the data eating apps, which is extremely annoying from the usability POV.
Oh!
What is polling?!? Some kind of monitoring?!? Mail/Facebook/Twitter running in background and sending Notifications on new mail, tweet etc? I guess iPhone fails in in-app integration(which helps easy sharing) where android scores and this One-touch Turn Off/On Notification, its vice verse! Searching this shows many android users has this complaint :(Quote:

Reg the unknown Data usage in Android, Google doesn't do any screening to the Apps posted in Market. So the apps try to steal and send data, as many as possible. Install this app - LBE Security - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ity.lite&hl=en. You can set rights similar to PC, to all apps about accessing SMS, Calls, Contacts, Network, Wifi etc. But the phone shud be Rooted!
Sennai based company releasing a tab running cortex A8 with call facility..crappy screen though.
Karbonn is planning a Aug release for their 9.7" tab..if only Android had apps to run on these tabs :lol2:

doesn look so bad wizzy...
goot thing... innum neraya varum...
I use Android and Got the similar issue in Data plans. I recently installed this My Data Manager, its really helpful in tracking the data usage. You can set your Monthly cycle date and your limit for example 200 MB. It will give you how much you have used and the remaining %, its always running so just dragging from the Top will give you the summary, also it gives a split up of data consumption by Apps. Hope it helps!!
any tips to decrease the battery consumption of my android phone..
i battery is very very poor and if i use net, it wont last even half a day... dont tell me to change my battery pls... technicala edhuna irundhaa sollunga...
