Srimanthudu - serious subject handled not so well by director.
IMO its an average movie, but rescued by Mahesh Babu's screen presense and charisma.
VSOP
first half was not so bad.. but second half terrible... close to climax - unbearable...
THANI ORUVAN
good, raja ippathan than carear la orupadiyana padam koduthirikaru..

Tamil Superstar Jayam Ravi posed for a candid photograph with the team behind his recently released film ‘Thani Oruvan’. - IBNLIVE
Thani Oruvan
Don't believe anyone - Arvindswamy is THE hero of the movie - unbelievable and total class act.
Best actor award assured.
Don't miss - what an action movie!
And NOV Anna, I remembered your reply to Mahen while watching the movie. What a good heroine like Nayan can do to a movie..

Definitely Ajay.
She has matured so well and does her characters with ease.
Good acting all round... if only Jeyam Ravi can modulate his voice better....
Jiginaa - pending approval
The movie deals with two subjects (faking identity on social network and dark skin complex) both interesting subjects but the director wanted to take an 80ish dig on these subjects and end up making a movie that seem very amateurish. Moreover the movie seem like a shortmovie material than a feature movie.
Apdi enna pannitanga? :confused2: vijay awards kuda kadaikathu:) i think the movie can do even without a heroine..
Btw, the movie was ok.. Thanks to the over glowing reviews, expectations was very high..hence it was just a decent thriller for me.. Fantastic superb ellam solla mudiyathu..standard subha thriller with some science thrown into it..
Jayam ravi looks fat and his acting was so so.. Pesame ganesh hero va potrukalam..
Arvindswamy  if he lose a bit more weight, easily the best looking actor in tamil cinema..he has the height, talent etc a complete package:D
Never said she would get an award and all. The movie is about a cat and mouse game between the protagonist and antagonist. So its normal for the audience to get irritated if a heroine comes into the narration and pesters the hero to love her. But Nayan's screen presence ensured that her role was the third best in the film and whenever she made an appearance she got only claps and whistles and not boos. What more can you ask from a heroine? [emoji4]

[emoji23] [emoji23] .. Indha Oru kelvi la ethana kelvi adangi iruku..
if thats the case, credit should go to the script writer not nayan..if a role is good, even karthika wont look annoying :) Btw, third best role goes to thambi ramaiyah..
izzit? :) VSOP watched it first day of release..didnt read any reviews..watched thani oruvan after reading so many very good reviews..expectations athigam aagi ended up jst a decent movie..loopholes neraya iruku but cant seem to remember now  cant match papanasam in terms of screenplay..
Not necessarily, bro. Best example is Avantika from Baahubali. The character was a well written one and she is pivotal to the story linking Shivu to the city of Magizhmadhi. But Tammu spoilt it with her body language and she appeared as the only weak link in the otherwise perfect film. For acting as a warrior girl, you don't have to walk with an open chest and closed fists. A fiery look is more than enough. Such nuances differentiate a good actor from an actor or say, Anushka or Nayan from Tammu.
//Not pointing out Tamannaah because she is your favorite heroine. But when i thought of heroines spoiling (at least a bit) a good film, unfortunately only Baahubali comes to my mind in the recent times. I understand you haven't watched the film yet. When you do, pls check it out :) //

Agree that director should take the blame for the scene that ajay highlighted..Walking, mannerism ellam directoroda vellai..only expression is a gift
When he is capable of etching out a character like Sivagami and getting the best out of Ramya Krishnan, will he not be able to get the best out of his other artistes too? சட்டில இருந்தாதானே அகப்பைல வரும்? [emoji12]
Wait and watch, Anushka will nail it in the second part as Devasena.

But if you are blaming Rajamouli for casting the wrong person, yeah, I agree

1. Actors who perform well irrespective of the script and director - Kamal haasan, Mohan Lal etc
2. Actors who perform under good scripts and directors - Ajith, Vijay, Surya etc
3. Actors who cant perform no matter what under any director, proving that acting is a skill on its own - Prashant, Tamanna.
1. Mani got one of the best out of Kamal, Mohan Lal,, Rajni
2. Kamal and Mohan Lal perform well irrespective of director.
Now there is something called - good, better and best in grammar.
1. Bradman played well under all conditions.
2. Bradman played his best knocks against England.
point taken. but still don't agree on the factuality of the statement. numerous actors have said in interviews that mani does the natural rendition of the actors essaying the scenes but he never demands and shows how to deliver stuff unlike someone like bala/shankar. so point is, when good actors do their best it comes out best and bad actors do bad it comes out horrible. proof is all movies post ayutha eluthu..
Straight forward ... better director can get better out of an actor even if its an average actor. Eg. Mohan in Mouna Raagam - Never have seen a better movie of Mohan.
Jeethu got the best out of Kamal and ML in Drishyam/Papanasam than probably somebody else in his place.
Reverse is true as well .. Average/Bad director can mess up a good actor's movie as well. But again a good actor in that combo would still be better than a average actor. There're examples of older Kamal movies which were bad because of an average director.
