Dear Balaji,

Thanks for reminding.Selvam released in 1966 (Depavali) comically dealt about the consequences of overbelieving astrology. As you said Rangarao as the Dr. simply stole the show and SV Sahasranamam as the villain (we will come to know only at the end) was a surprise.

Lakshmi Vanthachu (1986 Deepavali) was a remake of Rekha starrer Khubsoorat and Revathi did a good job. NT as the henpecked hubby was excellent and this film reinforces my feeling that NT loved to do light hearted comedies. Caught in between Punnagai Mannan & Maaveeran, this film went rather unnoticed

Thillaana Mohanaambaal is missing in the comedy films list. It is a classical as well as comedy film. Isn't it? Who will forget the train scene with Balaiah and other comedy scenes with Nagesh and others?

Kalnayak...

We are analysing the comedy type characters played by NT himself ..... TM is a movie where others played comic roles but the main characters NT and Padmini were always serious

We missed Arivali. A movie which had long been in the making finally made it to theatres in 1963. Since I saw the movie in 1970's and didn't get an opportunity to see it again, I don't remember much from this. My fleeting memories are the song " Shanthamooleka,sowkiyamooleku " - a TMS-PB duet on NT-PB and the unforgettable comedy scene of Thangavelu teaching Muthulakshmi,how to prepare Chappathi.( "Athuthan enakku theriyume" this dialogue of TPM will be remembered for ever)
