Coming Sunday, unveiling of NT's statue in Madurai
Y'day, Mega TV gave a tremendous treat to all NT fans by playing NT songs continuously. Few songs which I happened to watch,
Neeyum Naanuma
Un Kannil Neer vazhindhal
Ullam rendum...(Sivagamiyin selvan)
Kaetadhum koduppavane
Ammama thambi endru nambi...
Nadaya idhu nadaya
Devane ennai parungal
Chinnanjiriya vannaparavai
A few thoughts came to my mind....
In Neeyum naanuma, from Gowravam - the famous chess board scene where NT would be the King & Prince - in the back ground, TMS would be singing for which NT will enact only thru his hand gestures, eyes & facial expressions, without opening his mouth. Was it because he is playing the role of a chess board coin ??? !!! (Many would have already noticed this, but I just wanted to share it). And, every time I watch Gowravam, I get a new thought - appadi nadichittu poitar andha padathula. :notworthy:
Next, Un kannil neer vazhindhal.....NT would be seated in a easy chair & Padmini will be sitting near his feet. In a low angle shot, NT would bend down & rest his chin on Padmini's head.
The famous bridge shot in Manhattan is hailed as an iconic shot and so is the shot where Dustin Hoffman is shown under the leg of Anne Bancroft in The Graduate. Adhu avanga padam, avanga kondaduranga and it's so happy to know that people really appreciate such great moments in Cinema.
Do we lack such film appreciation ?? Definitely not. The above mentioned shot from Vietnam Veedu is also an iconic shot IMO. And the sillhoutte scene from Andha Naal is great film noir. The list goes on & on.
Not just NT films, even the climax shot of Kalyana Parisu is iconic.
The very opening scene of Super Star in Apoorva Ragangal (where he opens the gate),
kathi, kadhari, kutti karanam poatu irudhiyil manam pirazhndu Viji Viji endru viralai madakki paridhabamaga parkum Seenu,
Vayil vetrilai paaku saaru vazhiya, parattaikku kai amukki vidum sappani...
All these are iconic shots IMO. Great writers in our hub should register such wonderful moments in famous websites. Popular magazines like Vikatan, Kumudham etc., should bring out special Cinema editions replete with such info's - probably, 2 pre 80 editions & 2 post 80 editions.
