Great song. The pallavi and the anupallavi themselves are masterpieces - and the way IR uses flutes and tabla in the song - Aaha !!

Recently watched "Kizhakke pogum Rail" of BR-IR combo. BR must have had a great audacity in casting "girl next door looks" heroine Radhika and "ashadu moonji" hero Sudhakar for his second film and that too after a phenomenal successful Kamal-Sridevi pair in "16 vayadhinile". In "KPRail" , not a scene was out of place. BR could successfully capture audience's attention in every frame with IR's bgm serving as his right hand and Nivas's photography , his left hand. Though the film was controversial [I think BR was clever enough to hide behind the reason that the story happened pre independence era when superstition rode high among rural masses] , even that so called nudity was deftly handled without an iota of sleaze.
It is no surprise that for a music composer with a calibre like IR, composing a very haunting humming score [with Jency lending her voice] for the budding romance between the young pair . But what makes IR a cut above the rest was how he conveyed the cruelty meted out to an innocent village girl when she was left all alone, naked . to fend for herself , by an abrupt silence. That silence was deafening, wailing for her helplessness, stark, sudden, a death knell ringing loud to put an end to the villagers blind beliefs , only to be followed by a volley of strings during the hair raising chase sequence and a happy "malargaLe nadhaswarangal " reunion in the "kizhakke pogum rail"

I wasn't as fortunate as thumburu when I rented KPR recently as I could not watch more than 20% of the movie with my teenage son around. Most scenes had to be FF'ed and it was such an incomplete feeling of watching a BR movie:-( In addition, I got some 'archanai' from my wife as well, for renting such vulgar(?) movies.

The 'poovarasampoo pooththAchchu' picturisation is perhaps one of the very best of BR, IMO.

You have missed one great song of "Nadodi Thendral" as the film itself missed the song - "Oru kanam Oru yugamaaga..." What a soothing melody!!!
