Where is the talented guy V.S. Narasimhan ?
Topic started by Neelakantan Iyer (@ ppp3-27.bom.vsnl.net.in) on Thu May 7 16:16:40 EDT 1998.
V.S. Narasimhan, the lead Violinist at Ilay's Orchestra had a superb debut with "Acchamillai Acchamillai" by KB. (Remember the haunting melody of Susheela's Avarampoovu??)
After a loooong hiatus he did come out with a very good score but this time with a flop movie, PAsa Malargal (I think.. it has Revathi and A.Swamy and a whole lot of rich, spoilt kids).
Where is he now. He for once was ORIGINAL.... had IR's influence, no doubt, but ORIGINAL nevertheless. (Mr. deva, are you listening?)
Where is he now?
Whenever I listen to HOW TO NAME IT, where he was the lead violinist, I cannot but feel sorry for him, for the lukewarm response the press and public has given to this talented guy. Any news????

V.S. Narasimhan is the most talented composer to have been really wasted in TFM.He got his few chances but the movies never really clicked.Even while he was composing independently,he was and is still the lead conductor for Raja's orchestra. He was the only person to accompany Raja on his tour to compose the symphony.May be VSN thought that instead of languishing in the unforgiving world of commercial cinema on his own,it is better to be under the shadow of Raja.

Thanks Sankaran.
Its good to know that he still is the lead artist in Raja's Orchestra..
Lets hope he gets his due soon....
Other than VS Narasimhan and Sivamani, not many artists have been recognised...
ARR is doing a good job of crediting the harmony singers and some special instrumentalists...

I met Narashimhan in London 5 years ago, when he and Karukuddi Mani Sir did a fusion programme together. They used a Western Pianist and Violinist, along with Narashimhan playing Carnatic style.....The blend was absolutely fantastic and the audience was mesmorised. He composed a fabulous piece in a Ragam that he created himself, I've forgotten the name.....
I too hope he produces an album of compositions and that I'll oneday find a recording of the concert he did here. Maybe he'll be doing some work with ARR in the future. Please keep us posted.....Thanks.

Dear Friends,

Narasimhan,
Welcome to this page... Could you please give us some more info about the album? I'm curious to know what kind of fusion you have tried.
BTW: I thoroughly enjoyed Suresh Menon's 'Pasa Malargal' score. It was purely Western Classical
I was amazed, when I listen your composition first time.
Best Wishes
Naveen

Are there any songs from 'Aayiram pookkall malarattum' in the web? If I remember right, there are three fabulous songs in that movie..
'megam andha megam', 'poo medayo pon veenayo' and 'kaadhal nila theindhadho', all by SPB.
Thanks, Babu.

VSN,
I am so glad to see you in this forum. Welcome. Please do share with us your vast knowledge and experience in the filed of music. I am also interested to know more about your work with Ilayaraja and the reason for keeping such a low profile. Was it a self-imposed exile?
As you can see in this forum across many threads, we often lament the fact that real talent in this industry many a times doesn't get the due recognition and as a result, mediocrity rules. What do you have to say about this, as an insider?
I am glad you are focussing on instrumental albums such as 'Resonance'. On behalf of all of us TFM forum regulars, here's wishing you all success!
Jee,
I saw descriptions of the album 'Resonance' but no samples can be found on this site. The CD cover indicates that it is a Violin show all the way. I am dying to get my hands on this album.

Babu: try out http://raresongs.tfmpage.com . I think 'poomedayo' is available there. In addition, you will find songs from Puthiyavan, one of VSN's best.

I have uploaded a stunning composition from the album, "Resonance":
The album is very unique.. no rhythmic instruments, no synthesizers. Just pure strings.

Go Buy it!
RR (@ prox*) on: Fri Jul 28 10:05:39 EDT 2000
Neels: I'm interested in a detailed review of Resonance. Can you post it?
Bug (@ goli*) on: Fri Jul 28 10:39:02 EDT 2000
Neels,
Kudos!!
Indeed it is a wonderful piece. As you said this is a must album. A definite change from the synthesizers filled music.
Did you encode from the cassette?
folks outside India can get this CD from http://www.orientalrecords.com
( i think they are the proud owners of the other company in India--Echo Cassettes Recording which holds almost 99% hits of IR)

Bug, I checked out Oriental Records and couldnt find info on the CD. Did you buy the album thru oriental records???
Neels, write a detailed review. If i dont find the CD here, may be, you'll have to upload MP3s of the album somewhere for me:-)
