KRITHIS FOR THE SONG
:D
i would like to inform everyone that this thread should
initiate everyone in to sharing the memories of the trinity and
our yesteryear vidwans without whom we could not enjoy the beauty and essence of carnatic music
My pranams to the Trinity :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
i would like to share with everyone the songs
that has enthused me and how carnatic music
itself is a prayer and how it changes out outlook
towards life and lifestyle
i would request any rasika or follower of
carnatic music to share their thoughts also
In the dikshitar krithis, you get to know the
details of all the god/godess and the details
of the temples also. Dikshitar krithis are
almost a encyclopaedia of our major temples
the usage of sanskrit words are
so beautifully carved that you are
spell bound by the command as also
the lyrical beauty

thanks. i am happy to note that some
information is already shared also. it is a
great pleasure
i am always enlightened and thrilled when i hear
"Akhilandeshwari" in dwjayanthi and Maragathavallim in kambodhi.
You feel like standing inthe shrine before godess and praying
and doing pooja
"Dharmasamvardhini: in madhyamavathi is another brilliant krithi and it shows the
command of dikshitar over the lanugage
as also the style of inserting the raga name
in the krithi
the words in dikshitar's krithis could be taken separately and if accumulated, it is like a
pooja which is something extraordinary
Which kritis of Ramaswami Shivan are you interested in?
thanks for ur kind response.
I am interested in "Anadha Natesa" in Todi Ragam

i am highly thankful to your goodselves for the lyrics.
It is unfortunate that we are left with some share of this treasure of krithis from the Trinity. In this regard, we have to thank the giant of carnatic music of yesteryears who have religiously sang and taught these invaluable krithis
However, the current context, there seems to lot of interest among youth to learn carnatic music and that is a good sign for the music fraternity
Music has no language and we must enjoy the invaluable krithis and treasure it for posterity
If someone could guide me where I could get the lyrics of Papanasam sivan songs lyrics. I would be thankful
i am also interested in having the recordings of old concerts of GNB. Any one who has that may please inform me.
I have downloaded some songs of GNB from sangeethapriya but lot of great renderings are not available.

// :) hi// if you want lyrics, you can post in that threads and there are giants here who will get it in no time. please mention the needed details. thanks for your interest. :)
my interest is to know about renditions of songs and musicians.
ok. i will narrate my experiences and my favourites. It may not be an universal opinion. Because, Carnatic music has undergone change over the years. I am familar mostly with GNB/Semmangudi/madurai mani concerts. These were part of CDS & dowloaded material also.
thanks :). happy for your response.
can you list gnb renditions and your comments
sure. but dont take me to be an expert. these are just my humble opinions and what i felt.
Vinayaka - hamsadvani-patnam subramaniam iyer krthi
rendered in his style a pure delight.
Maragatavallim- Kambhoji-Dikshitar
To the best of my knowledge, i have not come across any other rendering apart from GNB. Raga alapana will be mind boggling. unfortunately only few recordings are available.
Sri Subramanyaya Namasthae-Kambhoji-Dikshitar
masterpiece of Dikshitar. a masterpiece from GNB too
Raga Sudha Rasa- andolika- Thyagaraja
a masterpiece and a to someextent monopoly by GNB.
Maaramanan-Hindolam-papanasam sivan
Tamadamen swami- todi-Papanasam sivan
classic and my favourites
Mansa etulo- Malayamarutham-Thyagaraja
Paliinchu kamkshi-Madhyamavathi-Shyama sastri
Marivere-Anandabhairavi-Shyama sastri
beautiful rendering and one of my favourites.
Lot more are there. I have listed a few.
thank you so much D :notworthy: you are right abt Maragatavallim. i also think the same. This song is new to me as also few above listed. i request you to list out his renditions which will be helpful to me.
kindly give me famous composition of papanasam sivan please.
some more:-
Thyagaraja krithis
sobhillu-jaganmohini
Maurukelara-jayanthsri
Dharini Telusukonti-suddasaveri
(classic rendition)
sarasa samadana-kapi narayni
Evantivasu deivamu-sahana
this covers some of his renditions. lots more. :)
thanks again for your time & efforts :D
regarding papanasam sivan krithis, i will mention what i know.

He is called rightly called thamiz thyagaraja. manathai negizha vaikkum padalgal. His krithis are also very huge.
