This thread is a good effort for one reason, SP. It will throw light on how much importance has been given for women characters in Tamil cinema over the years. One of my favourites is Revathi in Pudhumai Penn.

Women in tamil cinema have more often than not been potrayed as these weak simpering characters without a thought in their heads.For this reason alone I like characters which potray women and individuals with an ability to think.That list includes
