Note that
1) Abdul Razzaq emerges as only second to Klusener when all round performances are considered
2) Klusener is clearly the statistical winner
3) Flintoff is clearly way inferior to AR and LK
4) Cairns is more reputation than actual performance
If these were Indians, we'd probably be blaming them for failing more often than succeeding(except Klusener) - since we dont worry too much about other countries' win loss record, we tend to remember only the odd occasions these players came off, isnt it?
Obviously, I was jokingQuote:

1) Saravana Bevan sheer winner. Born to play for this posisan.
2) Jonadhan is my pick. Given we are packing the team with the greats I don't think we'll ever have to defend on his batting in a crunch. His vandhavarai laabam slog exploits shall do. And for sheer (nija sheer) fielding dazzle. Cultural phenomenon in the post 90s era.
I yam only two nominations.
1) M Bevan
2) L Klusener
3) yosikkanum
:hammer: at Plum and sananaayagam for selecting Jayasuriya and making this a battle of All-rounders and Bevan. Almost certainly Bevan is going to miss out.
Bevan
Klusener
Cairns (underrated, but dangerous).

i voted for Bevan in 5 as i feel if he comes in earlier, he gets more overs than being at 6. 6 is for allrounder and my nominations are
1. Abdul Razzaq (the fiercest hitter that i've seen of the yorker along with MSD)
2. Lance Klusener (ivarappatthi negative-a onne onnu thaan irukkunu thonuthu...creates problems inside the team, but thats ok, i feel our hub team manager/coach mr. plum will take care of that :P !)

Nominations: Klusener, Flintoff, Razaaq.
Note 1: Would have considered Afridi but we already have 3 spinners - Jayasuriya, Aravinda, Sachin plus a specialist spinner (Murali or Warne, I presume). Picking Afridi would load the team with too many spinners.
Note 2: Fellow hubbers, any considerations to NZL #6 ODI specialists like Harris, Cairns or Styris?
If we would have picked Gilchrist instead of Jayasuriya for opener's slot, I would have nominated Afridi over Razaaq.
fy the fy, Flum - one sumall rekOst. While listing the foll oftions - could you also mention the flayers that are already selected thus far. This would help to pick a saaice based on the already selected flayers as well. :)
I nominated Cairns.Quote:

I think its unnecessary for a medium pace all rounder to be in a team, which is going to have 3 best fast bowlers like wasin akram, ambrose, mcgrath. The fourth bowler is obviously going to be warne/murali. The fifth bowling options are jeyasurya(more than handy)/aravinda/steve waugh/sachin.
The number 7 is obviously Gilchrist. I would go for someone who can slog/quick between the wickets and add something new to the team which is full of batting/bowling Legends.
I nominate
Jonty Rhodes - For the sheer impact he had on the cricket loving people. Handy batsman and probably the best fielder the world has ever seen.
Imagine wasim akram/ambrose bowling with jonty mandayan at gully/point
Lance Klusener : he is/was and continues to be the dream all rounder for every team. Bats astonishingly, takes wickets; bails out the team when you most need em. 1st choice Easily.
Bevan: The same role as above but not being a bowler like Klusener
Chris Cairns: Useful all rounder in a team. Can make wonders on his day.

Looks like Klusener vs Bevan for this position.
Most people have nominated so will give this until end of tomorrow - 6PM IST - to close out further nominations.
Poll can run for a week and we'll start the nominations for Pace Bowler #1 meanwhile
(Pushing the #7 Wicketkeeper poll since if Dhoni wins this contest, we dont need a wicketkeeper poll)
Klusener (11TH Nom)
Symonds (2nd Nom)
Cairns (6th)
Razzaq (4th Nom)
Nathan Astle , # 6 Nomination :rotfl:
AFAIR Klusener scored in and around the 1999 World Cup. mathabadi oru siRappAna nember six-A enakku nyAbagam illai.
Bevan was quite ethanai...
Right from his debut in the mid 90s he has batted and saved matches, scoring at brisk pace, batting with the tail, handling chase pressure and changing match courses.
The last innings I recall is in the 2003 World Cup vs England. It is rightfully remembered as Bichel's match (7 wickets and then a big partnership put on coming in at number 10). But even there the one who played the long innings when everyone around was wilting was Bevan.
AF, you are allowed 3 choices. Also, I missed out your earlier post nominating Klusener, Bevan, Cairns.
Which should I take?
