as she tried to discretely walk back to her car, Jed called out to her, "Stop right there Elaine...", as he handcuffed the other man and stepped out of the car, "I believe we have unfinished business," he said, and proceeded to place a siren on top of his car....

...but his mind was in a turmoil. should he do by his duty and arrest Elaine ?

"Jed was a Police Officer?" thought Elaine in shock..."but why did he wait so many years to confront her.... or was this part of his plan all along?"

or maybe he was waiting all along to confront her from a position of strength ? if so, what were his intentions ?

to continue - she remembered how he was so many years ago. such a harsh, selfish person. which was why she left him in the first place. and has he now come to have his revenge ? she was puzzled and worried.

but within a short while, she realised that her worry was an unnecessary appendage for her, which would make her vulnerable in case Jed had evil designs.

And then Jed took out the handcuffs, but rather than getting shocked, Elaine was pleasantly surprised to see it ! For it was a miniature handcuff which she had gifted him for one of his birthdays. The fact that he still kept it with him seemed to indicate that he still had feelings for her.

Then as if to affirm it, his next words were : "Elaine I am sorry about what happened so many years ago."...

Elaine was moved - she didnt know Jed had such scruples or even such feelings in him. But she was angry & sad - that his repentance will not bring back Cassidy...
