Anyone here with knowledge/expertise in 'advanced' mathematics?

I've been trying to read through, and make sense of, the concepts presented in this paper ("A Multiscale Coarse-Grained Model of the SARS-CoV-2 Virion") but most of the mathematics in the paper seems to be beyond my level.

I wonder if there is anyone here who has enough knowledge of mathematics to explain the concepts in ways that would be easy to understand for non-mathematicians?
