"Theme from Shaft", written and recorded by Isaac Hayes, is the soul and funk-styled theme song
to the MGM movie SHAFT. It went to number 1 on the Billboard's Hot 100 in the United States, and
won the Oscar Award for Best Original Score; with Isaac Hayes becoming the first African American to win
that honour, or any Academy Award in a non-acting category. He was also the first recipient of the Oscar
Award for both writing and performing the winning song. Since then, the song has appeared in numerous
television shows, commercials, and other movies, including the 2000 sequel for which Hayes re-recorded
    the song.

Here it is; the original Theme from SHAFT...

Don't know if this has been posted already, but how about this evergreen jazz classic Summertime with the incredible voice of Ella Fitzgerald:

Here's a cover of "Summertime" by Dave Edmunds & Love Sculpture - my favourite version of the song:

America is an English-American folk rock band formed in London in 1970 which originally consisted of Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell and Dan Peek. The three members were barely out of their teens when they became a musical sensation in 1972, scoring No. 1 hits and winning a Grammy for best new musical artist. Their recording success stretched throughout the 1970s; some of the band's best known songs are "A Horse with No Name", "Sister Golden Hair" (both of which reached No. 1), "Ventura Highway", "Tin Man", "Daisy Jane", and "Lonely People". George Martin produced seven of their albums.

Peek left the group in 1977 to pursue a solo career, but Beckley and Bunnell returned to the top 10 as a duo with "You Can Do Magic" in 1982. As of at least 2009, America performs over 100 shows per year.

Here're a couple of my favorite songs :

    You Can Do Magic :

Sandman from the album, America :

Santa Esmeralda is a U.S./French Disco group which earned a #1 club hit with a cover version of the song
"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". The lead singer is Leroy Gómez who was born in Wareham, Massachusetts (USA),
    of Cape Verdean descent.

This is the complete version; 16 minutes and 10 seconds long!

If you do not have the patience to listen to the same disco/flamenco song for 16 minutes and 10 seconds,
here is a shortened version which is only about 10 minutes long!

Wouldn't It Be Good by NIK KERSHAW

Nik Kershaw is an English singer-songwriter and jazz-funk guitarist. At the beginning of 1984, Kershaw released his breakthrough song "Wouldn't It Be Good", which reached Number 4 in the UK Singles Chart, and was a big success in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The music video, featuring Kershaw as a chroma-key-suited alien, received heavy rotation by MTV, helping the song reach No.46 in the United States.
