I think in my opinon the trick to making good coffee is heating the milk on the stove, not the microwave. With the same coffee powder you can taste the difference if you make it the old fashioned way by boiling milk first, then adding coffee powder/decoction to it just like amma used to make

Like most of you, I was also wondering where to find a Coffee Blend to make good South Indian Coffee. After spending some time on-line, I came across this:Arabica is grown in the Chikmanglur and Nilgiris mountain ranges and Robusta in the lower, more humid areas of Malabar, Salem, Coorg, etc.
In view of the above one of the above varieties in the proportion of 70% coffee plus 30% chicory should give you a blend closest to what we find in South India.
Let me know what you all think.

i always buy coffee powder from starbucks, they grind it fresh for you. and they have a wide range of flavors. u can pick exactly how u want your coffee. if you want a neutral flavor go with house blend. if you want a lighter one get breakfast blend. (my favorite is sumatra).
WHEN THEY GRIND THE COFFEE TELL THEM YOU WANT IT GROUND FOR A CONE FILTER... OR JUST TELL THEM GRIND VERY FINE. just buy half a pound if u are not too sure. best part is u get a free cup of cofee with it too.... i just love starbicks!!!!!!
